Accountabilities:

  • Verify adherence to all legal requirements as well as Barrick’s environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Take part in the technical initiative implementation process and the Management of Change process.
  • Ascertain that the maintenance crew and related contractors have all the tools, systems, protocols, and equipment required for safe operation.
  • Evaluation of project structures, both present and prospective.
  • Evaluation of present procedures and structures for contract management.
  • Creation of project execution plans that include suggested deadlines and a description of present and future requirements.
  • To create engineering problem-solving strategies that either fulfill or surpass project specifications.
  • Oversee experts and consultants.
  • Overseeing initiatives in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Assist contractors and equipment providers with technical interface.
  • Planning of Activities and Resources.
  • Creating project scopes of work for jobs involving multiple disciplines.
  • Assist the department manager or someone designated by him in creating the project’s schedule, budget, and plan.
  • Control the budget, time, and quality assurance processes.
  • Take part in the risk analysis for the project and help create plans for risk management.
  • Help team members with technical matters.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of assigned technical projects with the projects team.
  • Project report writing and preparation.
  • Oversee and plan the installation, testing, and commissioning of the project.
  • Create a database for job records and make sure the system has accurate data.
  • Make sure purchase requisitions are raised promptly and accurately.
  • Make that the design output is consistent and has technical integrity.
  • Oversee the QA and QC processes.
  • Ascertain appropriate change control and operational preparedness.
  • Assuming responsibility for the environmental management system’s efficacy.
  • Ensuring that the organization’s context, strategic direction, and environmental policies and objectives are all in line with each other.
  • Ensuring the availability of the resources required for the environmental management system.
  • Highlighting the significance of adhering to the rules of the environmental management system and practicing effective environmental management.
  • Ensuring that the goals set forth by the environmental management system are met.
  • Guiding and assisting those who wish to enhance the efficiency of the environmental management system.
  • Encouraging ongoing development.
  • Helping other appropriate management positions to show their leadership in relation to their sphere of influence.
  • Establish the project charter, scope, budget estimates, and AFEs (approval of expenditures in addition to benefits to the business).
  • Creation and acceptance of the project schedule baseline.
  • Oversee the whole tender process, including creating the scope of work, meeting with bidders to clarify issues, evaluating the technical aspects of the bids, and engaging in business talks.
  • Provide current project status, schedules, S-curves, cost curves, procurement updates, delays, and mitigation plans in your weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Controlling the project’s estimated expenses and budget.
  • Figuring out how much equipment, material, and labor are optimally needed
  • Develop and oversee the project team.
  • Prepare progress updates on a regular basis and make sure all stakeholders are informed of the status of the projects.

Qualification standards:

  • Electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent.
  • A certification in project management will be useful.
  • Exceptionally numerate and capable with money.
  • Hold a valid Class B, C, D, or E driver’s license issued in Tanzania.
  • Able to operate a stick shift or manual transmission.
  • Solid understanding of best practices and mining safety regulations.

Requires experience and proficiency.

  • Ten years minimum of experience, five of which must have been spent in a project management capacity.
  • Exceptionally strong knowledge of project management tools, processes, and principles.
  • Work experience with multifunctional, large-scale projects valued at over $10,000,000.
  • Practical understanding of instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, and civil systems.
  • At creating project plans and schedules with Microsoft Project or a similar program.
  • A capacity for teamwork while maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • An extra benefit will be prior mining industry experience.
  • Proficiency in the construction of process plants, paste backfill plants, pump stations, and other fixed plants.
  • Always act with utmost professionalism and have the capacity to work with a wide range of clients.
  • Must be a driven individual who can work with little direction.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Strong foundation and experience in technical and strategic planning.
  • Strong dedication to safety, experience and background connected to policy and enforcement.
  • Carrying out duties with little oversight or control.
