The I & M Bank Tanzania Limited Formally registered as a financial institution under the Banking Act, and offices relocated to Investment House on Tanzaniatta Avenue. Following changes in Central Bank of Tanzania regulations, I&M formally transitioned into a commercial bank on April 1, 1996. This alteration coincided with a shift to a more modern location on Koinange Street. In 1999, I&M was undergoing a massive restructuring exercise to mark the 25th anniversary of the “I&M” moniker. The revisions were sparked by the introduction of a tiny but significant change: a new logo. This was meant to emphasize I&M’s transition from a financing company to a commercial bank. I&M’s headquarters were relocated to the famous I&M Bank House on 2nd Ngong Avenue, Nairobi, Tanzania. This modern, roomy structure was developed and constructed to meet the needs of our clients. In January 2010, I&M Bank announced its foray into commercial banking in Tanzania by acquiring a majority share in CF Union Bank Ltd (CFUB). PROPARCO, a French Development Financial Institution and I&M Bank’s existing shareholder, also took part in the stock buyout.
