Tanzania Forest Services (TFS) Agency is a semi-autonomous government agency formed by Government Notice No. 269 dated July 30, 2010, under the Executive Agency Act (Cap. 245) as amended from time to time. The Agency implements the National Forest and Beekeeping Policy of 1998, as well as the Forest Act (Cap 323 R.E of 2002) and the Beekeeping Act (Cap 224 R.E of 2002), which establish the legislative framework for forest and bee resource management. The agency is one of four units that comprise the Wildlife and Forest Conservation Service, which was established by the Written Laws (Miscellaneous Amendments) (No. 2) Act of 2020. The headquarters are located in Dar es Salaam at Mpingo House, lvory Room, along Nyerere Road. TES works in seven zones, as shown below:

The zones are as follows: Eastern (Kibaha in Pwani Region), Southern (Masasi District in Mtwara Region), Southern Highlands (Mbeya City in Mbeya Region), Northern (Same District in Kilimanjaro Region), Western (Tabora Municipal in Tabora Region), Lake (Mwanza City in Mwanza Region), and Central (Dodoma City in Dodoma Region). The Zones handle all of the Agency’s operational affairs, while the Headquarters deals with strategic management issues.
