One of Tanzania’s two primary railway networks is operated by the state-owned Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC). The headquarters are situated in the Dar es Salaam Region’s Mchafukoge, Ilala District.
TRC was established to take over the East African Railways and Harbours Corporation’s operations in Tanzania following the corporation’s dissolution in 1977 and the distribution of its assets among Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The inland shipping branch was separated into its own business in 1997.

- Railroad track packing in accordance with the supervisor’s instructions.
- To help with painting supplies preparation.
- Painting the coaches and fixing the track and coaches following mishaps.
JOB QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Possessing a Form 4 Certificate and one of the following credentials: Diploma in Rail Track Technology, National Vocational Award II (NVA II) in Civil Technology, Trade Test II/Level II, Basic Certificate in Civil Technology (Painting), or an equivalent credential from an accredited institution.

TECHNICIAN II (SIGNAL & TELECOMMUNICATION) – 10 POSTS
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To organize, create, build, and maintain S&T systems and equipment.
- To supervise the use of the market and the growth of the fiber optic cable along the railway system.
- To set up, maintain, and fix SGR/MGR signals as well as telecom infrastructure.
- In accordance with other departments, to participate in accident investigations
- To assist with the upkeep of the subterranean cables, internal office communications, yard radio, cargo/wagon tracking and its management system, electronic warrant system, and train control.
- To assist in the creation of plans, reports, and designs for science and technology initiatives.
- To create cost and quantity estimates for the project.
- Putting together and submitting regular technical reports; and

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To use winches and cranes in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- To offer top-notch plant operation services.
- To carry out gangway tasks.
- To use the mechanical equipment (cranes, tugs, folk lifts, and terminal tractors) in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- To transport motor vehicles and other freight into and out of trains, as well as to load, unload, and discharge them.
- To operate and drive mechanical handling equipment, including forklifts, shunting tractors, green butts, stationary pillars, and powered or manual gantries, in the workshop, yard, and depot yards; and
- Carries out any additional relevant tasks that the supervisor may designate.
JOB QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Form IV academic certificate combined with a class F or G driver’s license and a basic certificate provided by VETA, Bandari College, TIRTEC, or any other recognized institution.

STATION MASTER II – 30 POSTS
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To accept, dispatch, and signal trains.
- To guarantee that trains and traffic are handled quickly, in compliance with all laws and regulations, at the stops.
- To ensure the efficient and safe operation of trains, traffic, and trains, as well as the sales of passenger and freight.
- To oversee the overall management of the small and medium station as well as the security of the station’s equipment and installation.
- Overseeing a certain area within a marshalling yard and in charge of disassembling and organizing trains.
- To oversee, manage, and take part in the process of sorting, arranging, and splitting up train cargo as well as directing traffic onto nearby sidings, goods sheds, etc.
- To oversee the waggons’ placement and removal; and
- To verify the point setting.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Holders of an NTA Level VI or Diploma in Railroad Transportation. Training and practical skills are required.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To oversee a certain area within a Marshalling Yard.
- To be in charge of disassembling and organizing trains.
- To position and take out the waggon
- To oversee the manual or folk lift track loading and unloading of delivery trucks.
- To oversee the grading and sorting of stock; and
- To carry out any additional relevant tasks that the supervisor may prescribe.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Foremen in the Yard A railway transportation certificate granted by TIRTEC, NTA level 4, or an equivalent qualification.

MECHANICAL ARTISANS II – 3 POSTS
JOB DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To keep locomotives and train stock maintained.
- To keep up workshop equipment and vegetation; and
- To maintain auxiliary plants and handling equipment.
JOB QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Possessing a Secondary Education Certificate with Trade Test II, an NVA II (National Vocational Award II) in Mechanical Technology, or a comparable qualification from an accredited school.

- Possessing a Form 4 Certificate and one of the following credentials: diploma in rail track technology, National Vocational Award II (NVA II) in Civil Technology, Trade Test II/Level II, Basic Certificate in Civil Technology (Plumbing & Drainage), or equivalent credential from an accredited institution.

ARTISAN II (HIGHWAYAND BRIDGES) – 15 POSTS
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Railroad track packing in accordance with the supervisor’s instructions.
- To trim the bushes and grass along the path.
- To clean the water exits and side drains.
- To rebuild bridges following incidents; and
- To load and unload materials for highways and bridges.
JOB QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Possessing a Form 4 Certificate and one of the following credentials: Diploma in Rail Track Technology, National Vocational Award II (NVA II) in Civil Technology, Trade Test II/Level II, Basic Certificate in Civil Technology (Highway & Bridges), or equivalent credential from an accredited institution.

CIVIL TECHNICIAN II – 4 POSTS
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To perform track work, building, culvert, and bridge repair.
- To ascertain the sizes of structures by reading and examining project drawings and blueprints.
- To draft track maintenance schedules and deliver them to the supervisor.
- To participate in laboratory testing of soil samples and building materials.
- To guarantee that the construction of the project complies with the appropriate permanent way regulations and design specifications; and
