The Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) was founded under the Public Corporation Act of 1992 by an Establishment Order of 2007 published under Government Note Number 186 of 2007. This Order, signed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania on August 24, 2007, annulled the Tanzania Broadcasting Services (Taasisi ya Utangazaji Tanzania (TUT) (Establishment) Order, 2002), and TUT ceased to exist.
The TBC is a public broadcaster dedicated to educating, entertaining, and informing the people. TBC is required to accomplish its mandate by providing high-quality programming that appeals to all citizens, regardless of ideology, race, religion, gender, socioeconomic status, or physical disability.
