This entry level accountant provides expert help on accounting/system themes and program needs to various internal and external customers, supporting with operations such as Field Accounting, Accounts Payable or Fixed Assets in completion of daily, monthly and annual processes. Specific incumbents may work with accountants to assure timely and accurate recording of monthly expenses, coordinate support and gifts process for monthly international funding, and/or perform US accounting processes for stewardship activities, fixed assets, inventory and the corporate investment portfolio.
The Responsibilities:
- To maintain a personal contact with Jesus Christ. Is a continuous witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a gracious, Christ-like attitude when interacting with individuals both inside and outside of Compassion, and faithfully prays for Compassion’s ministry.
- To act as an advocate to increase awareness of children’s needs. understands Christ’s command to safeguard children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection in all ministry decisions, tasks, and activities. Meets all of the behavioral expectations outlined in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns about child abuse, neglect, or exploitation through Compassion’s internal reporting mechanism, and provides appropriate assistance for responses to situations that occur.
- Accountants provide training, policy clarification, feedback, transactional accounting, and analysis to internal and external customers. This could comprise field offices, partner countries, funders, and internal organizational units.
- To analyze financial reports and transactions to ensure that no input errors occur, that financial accounting policies and procedures are followed, and that activities are properly classified.
- To coordinate and oversees payments to field offices, brokers, vendors, contributors, and others as required.
- To participate in the monthly and annual close procedures, where duties include overseeing and creating professional paperwork for audits.
- To prepare journal entries based on data from numerous sources and puts them into the general ledger system, including inter-company transactions.
- Creates reconciliations for general ledger accounts, sub-leger activity, and external statements.

The Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in a comparable discipline, or accounting qualification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
Experience:
- 2 years of experience with financial reporting and accounting. Procurement procedures and internal audits will be preferred.

Office: Standard Office Environment.
