Position Title: Accounts Manager

One of the biggest international microfinance organizations, ASA Microfinance (Tanzania) Limited (‘ASA Tanzania’) is a division of ASA International Group pic (‘ASA International’ or ‘the Group’), which provides low-income, mostly female, entrepreneurs in Africa and Asia with socially conscious financial services.

Microfinance institutions, including deposit-taking microfinance banks, are owned and run by ASA International in the following countries: Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Myanmar, Zambia, and Sierra Leone. Enhancing financial inclusion and promoting social and economic development in the communities it serves are at the heart of ASA International’s purpose. As of December 31, 2023, the Group has over 2,000 branch offices and oversees a gross loan portfolio of over USD 369 million. Serving 2.3 million clients globally, ASA International employs approximately 13,400 people.

Workplace Duties:

  • Before making any payments or adjustments, check and create the daily transaction bill.
  • Examine the temporary advance register for the day.
  • Every day, verify the actual cash amount and denomination.
  • Verify the WHT or VAT on any relevant products.
  • Examine the online and cash transfers from the bank accounts of HO and Br. to the bank accounts of HO and Br.
  • Verify the M-PESA transfers from HO to Br.
  • Examine every journal containing the AMMS system’s trial balance and general ledgers.
  • Create a monthly reporting package based on the general ledgers and trial balance.
  • Prepare the fund reconciliation from HO to Br. and Br. HO as well as the bank reconciliation for each bank account.
  • Prepare the Return of HO and all branches and calculate the city service levy.
  • In the AMMS, prepare the journal voucher, credit voucher, and debit voucher.
  • On the eighth day of the subsequent month, prepare the monthly reporting packet and submit it to the Dhaka Office for evaluation.
  • Monthly Payroll Sheets should be prepared in accordance with HR documentation.
  • Monthly reports for PAYE & SDL, LAPF, PPF, SSF, and HESLB should be prepared and submitted on schedule to the appropriate authority.
  • Create a monthly interest schedule for staff loans.
  • Every month, create the Fixed Assets Schedule and Fixed Assets Register.
  • Get each branch’s rent schedule ready.
  • Compile the SDL return, SDL & PAYE summary, and WHT summary each month.
  • Compute the ASAI loan’s and other loans’ monthly interest. Check your quarterly interest FX gain or loss using the ASA Interest Book.
  • Keep all papers properly organized in the file.
  • Examine the chart of accounts for the opening of a new GL code and the reporting pack connection.
  • To send information and documentation to the Dhaka Office as needed.
  • To fulfill and supply the funder’s needs.
  • Must give TRA or the tax expert full information and documentation.

Job Qualifications:

  • Accounting experience at the senior management level.
  • Competence in trend monitoring, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • A qualified chartered accountant with the designations of ACCA, FCA, FCPA, or FCCA
    have a thorough understanding of IFRS standards.
  • Experience with banking or microlending would be beneficial.
  • Solid understanding of best practices, international tax legislation, external audits, and accounting concepts.
  • Experience managing treasury and currency exchange would be beneficial.
  • Outstanding management, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong ability to manage change and exercise leadership.
  • Strong sense of ethics and organization.
  • High degree of written and spoken English competence.

Line of reporting:

  • The Chief Financial Officer Salary will get reports from the Accounts Manager.
