The Role Purpose of the Statement:
To participate in a structured training program that includes both classroom and on-the-job training for base/line/workshop work in order to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to support the operational needs of an approved maintenance organization and airline operator.
The Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Acquire TCAA licenses after completing a four-year structured apprentice training program that includes theoretical and OJT.
- To observe, learning, and comprehending a diverse variety of engineering skills and procedures while under the supervision of qualified technical personnel.
- To be able to show these abilities and processes during the training time by working independently or as part of a team, completing tasks as directed, and improving overall contribution to the department.
- To learn to read and understand maintenance manuals or other technical data to assess the feasibility and procedure for completing the specified tasks.
- Learn how to check aircraft structures and/or airframe systems and components (such as mechanical flight control, hydraulic, and fuel systems) using a predetermined inspection program and visual inspection techniques or inspection aids (such as precise measuring equipment) as needed.
- Learn how to replace or repair damaged or worn aircraft structural or dynamic (rotary) components with standard hand tools, pneumatic tools, and structural repair equipment.
- Learn to remove, assemble, and replace aircraft component or system parts as needed.
- To fulfill set requirements, learn to properly document all inspection findings, work completed, and corrective actions in the relevant maintenance records.
- Learn to keep work areas and tools clean and tidy, as well as to use proper tool and FOD management techniques.
- To learn about the importance of workplace health and safety.
- To work in line with established safety norms, including proper use of personal protection equipment; keep the work space clean and organized.
- To learn how to work securely and use the proper technical data for the task at hand.
- To learn how to monitor and support continuous improvement efforts using Lean and continuous improvement techniques, with the goal of identifying and eliminating waste in all forms in order to enhance quality and safety, shorten lead times, and lower costs.
- To assist mechanics with a variety of mechanical jobs on various aircraft types, including problem identification and the necessary disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, reassembly, or adjustment of various aircraft systems to prepare the aircraft for flight and delivery to the client.
- Keep an eye out for aircraft and meet them on the taxiway.
- The tow, park, and secure aircraft on various ramps and hangars.
- Maintain a logbook throughout the apprenticeship period, listing completed activities and skills learnt.
- Maintain and ensure general good housekeeping in the workplace and surrounding regions.
- Maintain a smart appearance and act professionally at all times, whether at work or off duty.
- To fulfill any other duties allocated to the post holder that are appropriate for his or her grade and job.
The Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- A Diploma or higher in Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, or a related engineering area.
- A proficient in computer applications.
- The Safety conscious.
- Capacity to operate under pressure.
- The ability to manage several jobs without sacrificing quality.
- A strong team player, proactive, accountable, and open.
- The experience in aircraft maintenance is an extra bonus.
