Summary of job:
Supports the implementation of internal controls for project-level transactions in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), the Medical Teams’ Finance Manual, and donor requirements.
Responsibilities of a Job:
- Check that all payment requisitions have been submitted in accordance with the Medical Teams checklist.
- Examine revenues, expenditures, purchase orders, distributes, and disbursement orders to ensure accurate cost allocation and adherence to established regulatory criteria.
- Maintain the cash book and all program vouchers and journals for the accountant to review before posting to the general ledger, fix any errors, and batch and file documents in accordance with Medical Teams policy.
- Always keep an accurate record of cash transactions. Monitor small cash expenditures and request replenishment.
- Contribute to the creation of project financial reports by appropriately summarizing all vouchers and submitting them in accordance with the Medical Teams’ policy.
- Provide non-finance staff with technical assistance regarding financial policies and processes.
- Check with the Logistics & Procurement Department to ensure that the asset registry matches the physical assets and adheres to Medical Teams’ policies.
- Participate in the development of annual cash flows and budgetary requirements.
- Support the safety of program participants and workers by raising awareness and adhering to the code of conduct rules of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
- Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills that will allow them to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct themselves in accordance with the Safeguarding code of conduct and behavioral expectations.

AN EDUCATION, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, business administration, economics, or commerce.
- CPA certification, or working toward it, will be advantageous.
JOB EXPERIENCE:
- Two years of experience in finance and/or accounting.
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE:
KNOWLEDGE.
- Basic understanding of non-profit accountancy.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and computerized accounting software, such as Sage and Unit4.
- Understanding of IFRS/IPSAS.
SKILLS:
- Expertise in using an ERP system to process financial transactions.
- Skilled at explaining financial operations to non-finance employees.
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as a good command of written and spoken English.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to keep detailed records with excellent precision.
- Highly organized with strong quantitative skills.
- Ability to prioritise and handle competing responsibilities.
- The capacity to uphold the highest ethical standards and behave honorably.
- The capacity to protect the privacy of extremely sensitive data.
