The Job Purpose:

The position holder will be responsible for increasing the branch’s revenue and client base in order to fulfill the branch’s annual premium targets. The Branch Manager will be the point of contact for this function.

 

The key responsibilities:

  • To secure new business, either directly or through middlemen.
  • The service existing clients and follow up to secure renewal.
  • To maintain great customer service for both intermediaries and direct clients.
  • To achieve sound risk acceptance, do initial underwriting according to established norms.
  • Ensure that premiums are paid before the policy is attached.
  • Make follow up to ensure that intermediaries are paid their commissions on schedule and appropriately.
  • Assist the branch manager in recruiting new agents, direct clients, SFEs, new brokers, and expanding business through intermediaries in accordance with the agreed-upon KPIs.
  • To train, coach, and support new intermediaries to help them meet sales targets.
  • Make follow and adhere to the underwriting criteria and standards issued by the Underwriting Manager from time to time.
  • To prepare daily sales reports for the branch manager and additional reports as requested by management.
  • Assist clients with claim processing.
  • Ensure company retention based on renewal KPIs.
  • To deliver on the performance requirements outlined in the strategy map and personal scorecard.

The internal relationships:

  • Be accountable to the Sales Manager.
  • Needed to communicate and collaborate closely with Underwriting, Finance, Claims, and other departments as needed.

 

 

The external relationships:

  • Britam customers.
  • The intermediaries (Brokers, Agents, and Banks).
  • TIRA and other regulatory bodies.

 

 

The knowledge, experience, and qualifications are essential:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline.
  • The Professional insurance qualifications (CII certificate or equivalent) are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 1 (one) year of experience in a similar job.
  • The knowledge of the insurance industry and principles.
  • The knowledge of insurance regulation standards.
  • Understanding of sales and marketing.
