Job Title: Business Development Manager
Answers to (Reports to): Director of Business Development
Work location: Dar es Salaam
Private Agricultural Sector Support Trust (PASS Trust)
The main purpose of the job (job summary):
The role-holder will serve as a liaison between the Trust and its customers, guiding the organization’s growth by designing projects, preparing project and implementation plans, and overseeing team performance and development.
The Main Responsibilities:
- To provide strategic leadership and comprehensive business management for the PASS Trust, including business development, customer relationships, sales, and marketing in accordance with the PASS Trust’s strategic objectives.
- To plan, manage, and coordinate the Organization’s daily business development efforts.
- Identify and create market opportunities by recommending competing products and services.
- Create and nurture customer connections through engagements and closing new business prospects.
- Create and implement an effective strategic business development plan that aligns with the organization’s business strategy to ensure company growth and targets are met.
- To report on the state of the business to EXCOM and the Board.
- Drive business and revenue growth by developing and implementing various strategies.
- To attract new potential clients and discover new marketing and sales opportunities; implement an action plan to approach and secure new business.
- To implement an acquisition approach that focuses on developing and maintaining high-quality client connections over time.
- To market the Trust’s products and services, as well as promote and enlighten stakeholders about the Trust’s position in the agricultural sector, through meetings with potential clients, client visits, participation in important stakeholder forums and financial institutions, and so on.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the superior from time to time.
The Academic Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, agricultural economics, finance, accounting, banking, or a similar discipline from an accredited university.
- Professional qualifications and vast expertise in business development.
- A master’s degree will provide a benefit.
The Experience and Skills:
- A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in business development, credit analysis, or relationship banking, with at least three (3) years at the managerial level.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in Tanzanian agriculture and agribusiness development, including business strategy, project analysis, monitoring, and assessment.
- Understanding/ knowledge of agricultural financing and experience facilitating lending to smallholder farmers, including bank negotiations.
- To demonstrable experience with agricultural supply chain interventions to improve micro, small, and medium-scale agricultural growth.
- To report writing skills.
- The excellent written and spoken communication abilities.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizing and planning skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly in the use of Excel for data analytics.
- The ability to remain discrete and maintain confidentiality.
- The high ethical standards, honesty, and a dedication to maintaining professional norms of conduct.
