Job: Category Manager

Job location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

 

 

 

Job Role:

We are searching for a Category Manager to oversee a product category. You will be in charge of designing the category’s overall strategy, expanding its brands, developing pricing strategies, and promoting the category to maximum customer appeal. Your responsibilities will include managing vendor relationships and product ranges.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze data and insights to better understand industry and customer trends and demands.
  • Regular market visits are conducted to gather insights, feedback, and market needs from retailers.
  • Create, write, and negotiate Business Development Agreements with Vendors that align with corporate objectives.
  • Create long-term development strategy for brands and providers.
  • Create pricing strategies for each product that are consistent with market prices.
  • Build trust with vendors to get better discounts, price, and service quality.
  • Collaborate with supporting teams such as Marketing, Marketplace, and Planning to carry out each product’s plan.
  • Portfolio management and exit strategies for failed products.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • 2–3 years of related experience.
  • Solid understanding of category management, marketing, and sales fundamentals.
  • The ability to examine and draw appropriate inferences from key data to support categorization decisions.
  • An understanding of the market, including consumer insights and trends.
  • Excellent people management and persuading skills.
  • An analytical mind with strategic capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
