Job Title: Clearing and Forwarding Coordinator
Duty location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
DHL
About us:
German-owned and US-founded, DHL is a logistics corporation with its headquarters located in Bonn, Germany. It delivers approximately 1.7 billion parcels annually and offers express mail, package delivery, and courier services. One of the top providers of parcel services in Europe is DHL Express, an express mail service that is a part of the German logistics company DHL Group. Germany’s primary international parcel and courier service is DHL Express. Along with Deutsche Post, DHL also runs a different package service aimed at the German consumer market.
In 1969, DHL, the firm, was established in San Francisco, California, and by the late 1970s, it had spread throughout the globe. The initials of the company’s founders, Dalsey, Hillblom, and Lynn, are shortened to DHL.
Although the company’s primary focus was on international and offshore deliveries, DHL began expanding domestically (inside the US) in 1983 as a result of FedEx’s success. Deutsche Post started buying DHL shares in 1998. By December 2002, it had acquired all of the existing shares, having gained a controlling interest in 2001. After that, the corporation expanded the usage of the DHL trademark to additional Deutsche Post divisions, business units, and subsidiaries while absorbing DHL into its Express division. These days, business divisions like DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Supply Chain share the DHL brand with DHL Express. It was able to establish itself in the US after acquiring Airborne Express in 2003.
