The Job responsibilities:
The Clearing and forwarding officers are responsible for the following duties:
- Preparing paperwork for clearing both import and export consignments, as well as responding to changes in TRA systems and customs laws.
- Ensure that customs documentation for clearing and forwarding is properly managed.
- Overseeing the clearance and forwarding process to ensure that items reach on time, as well as communicating any problems to management.
- Ensure that documentation for both import and export is closely monitored in order to avoid late documentation or storage penalties.
- Ensure correct storage of import documentation, such as certifications, PVoC, customs bonds, and so on.
- Follow up on correspondence between several statutory bodies and other bodies, including the TRA. Ensure that all taxes are paid to TRA.
- Ensure that relationships are developed with other industry players, customers, and government bodies.
- Prepare and send a daily progress report to the supervisor and management.
- Import and export declaration documents are being prepared.
- Customs Import Declarations for all of the company’s clients.
- Follow up on any customs-related import declarations.
- Import Manifest Comparison for Company Client Declarations.
- Customs will respond to any queries about valuation and HS codes.
- Compare the duties on all imports for shipping line officers, customs, and operations.
- Update all import files in Import & Export Manager with customs status. If necessary, in both operational and shipping lines.
- Preparation of exemption documentation.
- Keeping a record of all customer files.
- Liaising with port authorities and customs officers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and keeping all necessary paperwork and documentation.
- Coordinating with Port Authorities on various needs related to vessel management at ports.
- Renewal of applicable permits for all company-imported listed items, and must be familiar with the procedures.
- Follow up with the shipping companies regarding the booking timetable.
- Export documentation.
- Update bond stock as expected.
- Documentation and follow-up on products for processing and manufacture is expected.
- Submission of raw materials and product inventories for customs purposes, both before and after manufacture and processing is expected.
- Responsible for goods inventory, including product and raw material reports to the customs bond officer. Expected.
- Formulating and preparing the export manifest for submission to the TRA.
The Requirements:
- The knowledge of TANCIS and SINGLE WINDOW is essential.
- Computer literate with extensive understanding of Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail, solid analytical abilities, capacity to multitask, high level of honesty, self-motivated, innovative, problem solvers, eager to learn, and good timekeepers.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities in English.
- Organizational skills and time management entail a professional approach to personal time management and deadline compliance.
The Working Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience.
The Educational Qualification:
- A Bachelor’s degree in clearing and forwarding, customs and tax management, or a similar field.
Additional (Other) Qualifications:
- Flexible, reliable, hardworking, adaptive, accountable, and a team player.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
The Education and Experience Requirements:
- Education: At least a bachelor’s degree is required, with no upper limit.
- Experience: Not less than three years.
