The Overall Job Summary:

To provide technical assistance to health care practitioners (HCPs) in providing high-quality client-centered, interdisciplinary family-focused HIV prevention and treatment services at supported institutions in the Shinyanga and Tanga regions. This includes targeted HIV testing services, optimized Provider Initiated Testing and Counseling (PITC), same-day enrollment into antiretroviral treatment (ART) for newly identified PLHIV, effective adherence and retention strategies, minimizing lost to follow-up (LTFU), TB integration, opportunistic infection prevention, and viral load suppression. S/He will collaborate with the PMTCT/Pediatrics field officers and the community services team to ensure that HCPs, expert clients, and community volunteers have the necessary skills to manage HIV-positive babies, children, and adolescents in accordance with national and international guidelines.

 

 

The Specific roles and responsibilities:

  • To provide supportive supervision, on-the-job training, and ongoing medical education and training to HCPs and supportive cadres about client-centered comprehensive HIV services in order to combat the epidemic.
  • Under the supervision of District Managers, HFs in assigned districts implement program activities that meet targets for HIV prevention, treatment, adherence, and retention to ART, TB/HIV collaborative activities, HTS, PMTCT, Laboratory, CECAP, and GBV (also DREAMS and VMMC in Shinyanga).
  • To support health clinicians and community teams in implementing evidence-based innovations to maintain critical and vulnerable HIV-positive people in community settings.
  • To ensure that PLHIV HVL and TB samples are transported efficiently, and that results are documented properly for HIV viral load monitoring.
  • To facilitate pediatric optimization for ART-treated pediatric customers in the designated districts.
  • Ensure that QI initiatives are implemented in all supported HFs across the districts.
  • Ensure that national HIV prevention and treatment guidelines and resources are available at all supported sites.
  • To ensure that all donor and government key performance indicators at health facilities allotted to the incumbent as Mlezi are met 100%.
  • Carry out/ perform all other necessary duties as assigned by supervisors.
