Description of Job:
A Commercial Manager oversees and coordinates all commercial activities inside the firm, such as procurement, logistics, and financial management. This position demands a thorough understanding of corporate operations, market dynamics, and international trade legislation.
The Duties and Responsibilities:
Procurement:
- Oversee all procurement activities, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.
- Ensure that raw materials, equipment, and supplies are procured on time and at a reasonable cost.
- Manage supplier relationships and settle any disputes.
Logistics:
- Coordinate logistical operations, including as transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Ensure that clients receive their items in an efficient and timely manner.
- Manage Tanzania’s import and export processes, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and procedures.
- Manage customs clearance and documents.
Team Management:
- Lead and manage a group of business experts.
- Provide team members with direction, mentoring, and training and development.
- Create a positive and collaborative working atmosphere.
Financial Management:
- Prepare and analyze financial reports to evaluate the success of commercial operations.
- Create and implement cost-cutting strategies.
- Budgets should be managed and resources allocated effectively.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Stay up to date on changes to import and export regulations.
The Qualifications and Skills:
The ideal applicant for this post would have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a similar subject.
- A minimum of seven years’ experience in commercial management.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Strong awareness of Tanzanian import and export legislation and processes.
- Experience in the chemical industry.
- Understanding of procurement and supply chain management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Other (Additional) requirements:
- Proficiency in key software applications (such as SAP S/4 Hana).
