We’re looking for a highly driven and experienced Commercial Manager to join our dynamic team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service functions to increase revenue and market share.

The key responsibilities:

Sales Strategy Development:

  • To create and implement local sales strategies to enhance market share and revenue from both import and export activity.

 

Sales Team Leadership:

  • To lead and inspire the local sales team to achieve corporate and individual performance goals. Ensure that regional and headquarters objectives are aligned.

 

Customer Relationship Building:

  • Joint visits with sales staff and channel partners can help to strengthen client connections.

 

 

Forecasts and budgets:

  • To manage forecasting and budgeting processes in accordance with the company’s goals and objectives.

 

Market insight and reporting:

  • To analyze market data and competition actions to make informed strategic decisions. Send regular marketing and performance reports to the headquarters.

 

Sales Pipeline Management:

  • Use the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to monitor and manage an active sales funnel, ensuring that all leads are monitored and followed up on quickly.

 

Collaboration between headquarters, regional offices, and operations:

  • Collaborate with the operations team to provide tailored intermodal solutions to customers and efficiently manage long-term cargo. Align sales activity with regional and headquarters policies.

 

Customer Account Management:

  • To collaborate with the Credit Control team to ensure prompt customer payments and account management.

 

 

Data Integrity and CRM Management:

  • To help with decision-making, ensure that the CRM system contains correct and up-to-date customer data.

 

Must Have:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, commerce, or another relevant discipline.

 

Industry Experience:

  • Ten to fifteen years of expertise in trade, sales, and marketing in the container transport, logistics, or liner industries.

 

Customer Relations Expertise:

  • A proven expertise managing client relationships, as well as knowledge of port operations and equipment management.

 

Leadership Experience:

  • The strong leadership skills with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving results.
