The job description:
We’re seeking for a Communications and Marketing Officer to join our team. Specifically, the candidate will be in charge of managing and arranging the company’s brand and reputation through communication and marketing initiatives. The Communications & Marketing Officer will collaborate with Mkuki Na Nyota’s internal (Business Development, Digital Marketing, Marketing & Sales, Editorial, Digital, and Production departments) and external stakeholders to launch communication and marketing campaigns on time and within budget.
The job purpose:
Responsible for providing high-quality communication across a variety of company platforms. Working with the management team and directors to ensure that all communications and marketing efforts promote member, stakeholder, and partner involvement.
The Requirements:
- A MA degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related profession.
- At least (a minimum) of three (3) years of verifiable job experience.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
- Excellent writing skills in English and Kiswahili.
- Team player with a start-up mindset, including a proclivity for action and a desire to step in to help other team members and provide ideas outside of your area of expertise.
- Self-starter, independent, and capable of organizing and managing own work while adhering to agreed-upon objectives and duties.
- An experience in marketing or communications, as well as a relevant qualification.
- The capacity to create high-quality, effective material that is clear, compelling, entertaining, and motivating, as well as the ability to adjust communication approaches to diverse audiences.
- An excellent communicator with warmth and charm who can immediately build rapport, trustworthiness, and positive working relationships.
- A strong digital abilities, including experience with content management systems and social media platforms.
- Flexibility in a fast-paced atmosphere, as well as a readiness to help colleagues when needed.
- The excellent portfolio demonstrating a track record of successful project management instances.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- An experience with site design and content generation is a huge plus.
- A highly creative, with strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
- Keep up with the latest developments and best practices in digital and print communication and marketing strategies.
- A highly creative with experience identifying target audiences and developing engaging, informative, and motivating communications and marketing campaigns.

The main duties: The Communications and Marketing Officer will report to the Business Development Manager.
The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing communication strategies to raise public awareness, including but not limited to marketing emails, newsletters, campaigns, and event descriptions.
- Press releases, newsletters, speeches, website copy, brochures, and social media platforms are all examples of content written and distributed to promote the organization’s brand.
- Respond to questions (inquires) from the public, partners, and media.
- To manage brand/company image and reputation by influencing thoughts and behavior via various communication channels such as websites, social media, and newspaper coverage.
- Conducting/ perform market research and assessing the company’s target audience and their needs.
- Collaborating with management to create and implement public relations strategy and initiatives.
- Make sure tone of voice and brand consistency across all outputs, including the creation and development of templates for usage throughout the organization.
- A proofread the company’s communications and marketing materials.
- To use analytics to report on the reach and impact of communications and marketing activities, and evaluate performance across channels to influence future action and metrics.
- Conduct media monitoring to capture MNN’s external coverage.
- Assist the Management Team in preparing reports for external dissemination.
