CONSULTING OPPORTUNITY FOR CONDUCTING ACCESSBILITY REVIEW FOR THE LAKE VICTORIA DROWING PREVENTION PROJECT.
The Lake Victoria Drowning Prevention Project (LVDPP) is looking for a consultant to undertake an accessibility study and recommend methods to make the project more inclusive, particularly for those with disabilities.
THE BACKGROUND:
The Lake Victoria Drowning Prevention Project is managed by EMEDO and supported by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The project attempts to reduce drowning risks for seven fishing communities in the Mara, Mwanza, and Kagera regions. Water safety and drowning prevention are important for all people who live near the lake, and LVDPP is interested in gaining a better understanding of the scope of disabilities in the project communities, potential barriers to PWDs participating in project activities, and ways to make the project more inclusive of PWDs.
THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY:
This is a gap study to determine the current situation of PWDs in project communities, identify impediments to their involvement in LVDPP treatments, and make recommendations for making project programming more inclusive.
