The Job Description:
- To set up workstations with all the necessary supplies and cooking equipment.
- Create/ prepare ingredients for cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.).
- Cook meals using various tools or grillers.
- Familiarisation with hotel menus.
- Dressing plates before serving ensures a fantastic presentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the kitchen.
- To ensure that all food and other supplies are properly stowed.
- To check the quality of the ingredients.
- Keep an eye on inventory and place orders when there are shortages.
- To prepare food to the client’s specifications.
- To prepare food prior to the arrival of guests.
- Helps other cooks with the dish assembly process.
The Requirements:
- Proven cooking experience.
- Experience with cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
- Knowledge of numerous cooking procedures and methods (such as grilling, baking, and boiling).
- Able to follow all sanitation procedures.
- Capability to work as a team.
- Fluent in both English and Swahili.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina.
- At minimum, a culinary school diploma is required.
- Flexible regarding shift times.
- Knowledge of world and local cuisines.
- Able to work long hours.
