Overview of a Job:

The Strategic Marketing department will rely heavily on the Global Data & Analytics Manager. The work would entail providing decision makers with timely and appropriate data insights and recommendations to improve performance and inform initiatives. This role demands the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with national teams and key central functions such as Credit, Product, Digital, Finance, and others to develop and maintain strong business and technology connections, establishing oneself as a trusted partner to all stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be analytical, curious, and enthusiastic about addressing challenges using a data-driven, customer-centric approach.

Ideally, you would combine your analytical skills with a background in commercial strategy, specifically pricing, customer segmentation, customer experience, and customer value management. It is vital that this job goes “beyond data” and conveys actionable advice to key decision-makers, “forcing their hand” if required to make the best strategic decision.

 

The Main Responsibilities:

  • Reporting, Business intelligence and data visualization for Strategic Marketing.
  • The Ad hoc and project-specific analytics and performance insights.
  • Strategic marketing involves strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • People leadership includes both direct leadership of data analysts (with complete responsibility for the team’s workplan, coaching, and professional development) and indirect leadership of country data analysts (mentoring, training, and capacity development).
  • Management of procedures, systems, and standards for Strategic Marketing reporting and analytics, as well as data source alignment across the EEA.

 

 

 

The Main activities.

Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Monitoring (about 30%).

  • Create effective business intelligence strategies and analytics/visualization solutions for Strategic Marketing to be used by key decision makers (global leadership, managing directors, country functional heads, and so on).
  • Design, create, and own interactive Tableau dashboards to track important performance indicators, highlight data patterns, and help EEA markets manage and monitor their performance.
  • Generate regular Strategic Marketing reports, which include: (1) monthly performance reviews; (2) monthly war room content for Global leadership; (3) monthly reports to Global and ENGIE leadership; (5) quarterly “Deep Dives” on performance and other key topics by market; (6) Year in Review preparation; and (7) other ad hoc requests as needed.
  • Continuously monitor performance against key metrics and agreed-upon targets across the EEA and markets, including financial and operational drivers, while finding improvement possibilities and communicating with key stakeholders.

 

 

Analytics and insights (about 20%).

  • Conduct ad hoc robust analysis (including statistical analysis and data modeling) to assess strategic marketing performance, get new insights, identify areas for improvement, and drive decision-making and strategies.
  • Oversee analytics projects for extracting, managing, and analyzing strategic marketing data from various applications or sources (including field research).
  • Collaborate with EEA Data to create and verify predictive models, predictions, and other data tools for strategic marketing.
  • Support the EEA Strategic Marketing team’s larger analytical needs, including as pilots, interventions, operations, and field research.

 

 

 

Strategy and planning (about 20%).

  • Work with the Strategic Marketing leadership and EEA markets to ensure that strategy and plans are data-driven and based on analytical findings.
  • Lead the forecasting and reforecasting processes and demonstrate leadership and rigor in the establishment of Strategic Marketing performance targets for each market and the EEA as a whole.
  • Establish priorities and functional goals for business intelligence and analytics in strategic marketing that are in line with the EEA’s overarching plan.
  • Create, define, carry out, oversee, and manage particular projects and activities to enhance the precision, efficacy, and/or efficiency of EEA’s business intelligence and strategic marketing analytics outputs.
  • Stay up to date on industry standards and best practices for reporting, performance analysis, etc.
  • Assist country teams as a major stakeholder in the EEA Pricing Committee.

 

 

 

Management, Training & Capacity Development (about 20%).

  • Lead a team of analysts (now 2), with complete responsibility for coaching and their professional development.
  • Oversee the team’s schedule and workload to make sure the predetermined objectives are met.
  • Assist decision makers in accessing and interpreting BI tools, reports, and analytical outputs, as well as in continuously assessing and analyzing their performance, by collaborating with EEA leadership and national leadership.
  • Help nation analysts enhance their analytical abilities or their ability to create dashboards and data visualizations that are customized for their region.

 

 

Systems, Procedures, and Standards (about 10%).

  • To guarantee that all stakeholders are in agreement, document and standardize business rules, terminology, and important procedures and measurements.
  • Create and maintain controls systems and review standards that guarantee data quality and prevent discrepancies in close collaboration with other stakeholders and data consumers throughout the organization.
  • To guarantee and enhance data availability, integrity, accuracy, and dependability, work together with data scientists, analysts, and engineers.

 

 

Experience, expertise, and knowledge:

  • A minimum of 6–10 years of professional experience, preferably in industries like retail financial services or telecommunications, in disciplines like data analysis, statistics, financial analysis, business analysis, or something similar.
  • Excellent business judgment and analytical abilities, with the capacity to combine and evaluate both quantitative and qualitative data to produce useful strategy recommendations.
  • Able to query databases using SQL (a prerequisite/ requirement); knowledgeable about data visualization software (Tableau, D3, ggplot, etc.); proficient in Excel financial modeling; and at ease with the fundamentals of data engineering, database administration, basic accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the capacity to persuade important stakeholders to take logical, evidence-based actions.
  • Building, motivating, and overseeing teams with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skills is a skill.
  • Strong background and aptitude in commercial strategy, particularly in the areas of value management, pricing, customer segmentation, and customer experience.
  • Strong project management skills combined with a remarkable capacity for teamwork, persuasion, and plan execution.
  • Enthusiasm for the goal of EEA and a strong desire to improve the lives of off-grid and underprivileged clients in sub-Saharan Africa.

 

 

Language:

  • English.
  • Knowing French is advantageous.
