An Overview about ENGIE Energy Access (EEA):

The top supplier of mini-grid and pay-as-you-go (PAYGo) solutions in Africa is ENGIE Energy Access. The business creates cutting-edge off-grid solar solutions for residences, commercial buildings, and public spaces, giving clients and distribution partners access to inexpensive, clean energy. Pay-as-you-go solar household systems can be financed with low daily installments as low as $0.19, and mini-grids encourage economic growth by allowing the productive use of electricity and creating commercial opportunities for rural community entrepreneurs. By 2025, ENGIE Energy Access hopes to have impacted 20 million lives throughout Africa, with over 1,800 employees, operations in nine African countries (Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia), over 1.9 million customers, and over 9 million lives already impacted.

 

Overview of the Job:

Within the Strategic Marketing division, which is in charge of sales, marketing, and customer experience, the Global Data & Analytics Manager will be vital. The position will be in charge of providing decision makers with timely, appropriate data insights and recommendations to boost output and guide tactics. In order to build and maintain strong commercial and technological partnerships and establish oneself as a reliable partner to all stakeholders, this role demands the ability to work cross-functionally with national teams and important central functions like Credit, Product, Digital, Finance, and others. The ideal applicant will be analytical, inquisitive, and passionate about using data-driven, customer-centric problem solving techniques. A background in commercial strategy, particularly in pricing, customer segmentation, customer experience, and customer value management, would be ideal to combine with your analytical skills. This position must go “beyond data” and provide significant decision-makers with practical recommendations, “forcing their hand” if needed to reach the best course of action.

 

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Data visualization, reporting, and business intelligence for strategic marketing.
  • Performance insights and analytics on a project-by-project basis.
  • Strategic marketing-related budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
  • People leadership includes both indirect leadership of nation data analysts (tuning, training, and capacity building) and direct leadership of data analysts (complete accountability for the team’s workplan, coaching, and professional development).
  • Process, system, and standard management for analytics and reporting in strategic marketing, as well as alignment with data sources within the European Economic Area.

 

Main Activities:

30% is made up of business intelligence, reporting, and monitoring.

  • Create efficient business intelligence plans and analytics / visualization programs for Strategic Marketing so that key decision makers (such as country functional leads, managing directors, and global leadership) can use them.
  • Create, design, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards that help EEA markets manage and measure their performance by summarizing data trends and tracking important performance indicators.
  • Provide regular reports on strategic marketing, such as: (1) monthly performance reviews; (2) monthly war room materials for global leadership; (3) monthly reports to global and ENGIE leadership; (5) quarterly “Deep Dives” on performance and other important topics by market; (6) Year in Review preparation; and (7) other as needed requests.
  • Continuously identify areas for improvement, keep key stakeholders informed, and monitor performance against established targets and key indicators across EEA and markets, including financial and operational factors.

 

Insights & Analytics (20% approximately).

  • Ad-hoc robust research, such as statistical analysis and data modeling, should be used to assess the success of strategic marketing, generate fresh perspectives, identify areas that require development, and inform strategy and decision-making.
  • In charge of overseeing analytics projects that gather, organize, and evaluate strategic marketing data from various sources or apps, including field research.
  • Develop and evaluate projections, predictive models, and other data tools for strategic marketing in close collaboration with EEA Data.
  • Support the EEA Strategic Marketing team’s more general analytical needs, such as the study of operations, field research, pilots, and interventions.

 

Strategy and Planning (approx 20%)

  • Assist the EEA markets and the Strategic Marketing leadership in ensuring that plans and strategies are data-driven and based on analytical findings.
  • Lead the forecasting and reforecasting processes and demonstrate leadership and rigor in the establishment of Strategic Marketing performance targets for each market and the EEA as a whole.
  • Establish priorities and functional goals for business intelligence and analytics in strategic marketing that are in line with the EEA’s overarching plan.
  • Create, define, carry out, oversee, and manage particular projects and activities to enhance the precision, efficacy, and/or efficiency of EEA’s business intelligence and strategic marketing analytics outputs.
  • Stay up to date on industry standards and best practices for reporting, performance analysis, etc.
  • Assist country teams as a major stakeholder in the EEA Pricing Committee.

 

20% or so goes for management, training, and capacity development.

  • Currently leading two analysts, you are fully in charge of their professional development and coaching.
  • Oversee the team’s schedule and workload to make sure the predetermined objectives are met.
  • Assist decision makers in accessing and interpreting BI tools, reports, and analytical outputs, as well as in continuously assessing and analyzing their performance, by collaborating with EEA leadership and national leadership.
  • Help nation analysts enhance their analytical abilities or their ability to create dashboards and data visualizations that are customized for their region.

 

Systems, Procedures, and Standards (about 10%).

  • To guarantee that all stakeholders are in agreement, document and standardize business rules, terminology, and important procedures and measurements.
  • Create and maintain controls systems and review standards that guarantee data quality and prevent discrepancies in close collaboration with other stakeholders and data consumers throughout the organization.
  • To guarantee and enhance data availability, integrity, accuracy, and dependability, work together with data scientists, analysts, and engineers.

 

Experience, expertise, and knowledge:

  • A minimum of 6–10 years of professional experience, preferably in industries like retail financial services or telecommunications, in disciplines like data analysis, statistics, financial analysis, business analysis, or something similar.
  • Excellent business judgment and analytical abilities, with the capacity to combine and evaluate both quantitative and qualitative data to produce useful strategy recommendations.
  • Able to query databases using SQL (a prerequisite); knowledgeable about data visualization software (Tableau, D3, ggplot, etc.); proficient in Excel financial modeling; and at ease with the fundamentals of data engineering, database administration, basic accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the capacity to persuade important stakeholders to take logical, evidence-based actions.
  • Building, motivating, and overseeing teams with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skills is a skill.
  • Strong background and aptitude in commercial strategy, particularly in the areas of value management, pricing, customer segmentation, and customer experience.
  • Strong project management skills combined with a remarkable capacity for teamwork, persuasion, and plan execution.
  • Enthusiasm for the goal of EEA and a strong desire to improve the lives of off-grid and underprivileged clients in sub-Saharan Africa.

 

Language or languages:

  • English.
  • Fluency in French is advantageous.
