Ciheb Tanzania is a locally registered and led non-profit organization that grew out of the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) Tanzania programs.
The Job Summary:
The incumbent will assist with town errands and field work activities while strictly adhering to Tanzania traffic guidelines and CIHEB Tanzania norms and regulations regarding vehicle use. He/she will also coordinate planned maintenance, routine car services, and minor vehicle repairs for the allocated vehicle.
The key responsibilities:
- To handle and drive the CIHEB Tanzania vehicle to which s/he is assigned in compliance with Tanzanian legislation, CIHEB Tanzania policy, and as directed by the supervisor.
- Make inspection the vehicle before and after a trip to verify that it is in good shape and to reduce wear and tear on the vehicle.
- To create and submit vehicle performance reports in a timely manner after each voyage.
- To guarantee that all vehicle movements are recorded on vehicle log sheets and that the vehicle is only utilized for permitted purposes.
- To maintain vehicle drivability and supply all necessary equipment.
- To discover vehicle defects, notify the supervisor immediately and advise on necessary repairs and services.
- Make a schedule frequent vehicle inspections and servicing in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines, or better.
- To double-check all records of work performed on each vehicle, as well as the job cards.
- To interact with visitors in a manner that reflects CIHEB Tanzania.
- Perform/ carry out any additional office operations as given by the supervisor, such as errands to banks, airports, and post offices.
The Qualification and Skills:
- A secondary school education.
- Qualifications: Advanced Driver’s Certificate Grade Two from NIT or VETA.
- An Advanced Driver’s Certificate Grade One from the National Institute of Transport (NIT) or Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) is an added advantage.
- A certificate of Motor Vehicle Mechanics Grade II is an added advantage.
- A valid and accident-free Class C Tanzania driver’s license.
- A minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in vehicle driving and mechanical with other international NGOs or comparable organizations.
- The ability to communicate and write in both English and Kiswahili.
- To demonstrated the ability to work well with both international and national staff. Good interpersonal skills.
