Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA)
Background of the Agency:
The Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) is an Executive Agency of the President’s Office, Regional Administration, and Local Government (PO-RALG) that was established under Section 3(1) of the Executive Agencies Act (Cap. 245) by Order published in Government Notice No. 211 dated May 12, 2017 and inaugurated on July 2, 2017.
The TARURA manages the development, rehabilitation, maintenance, axle load regulation, environmental, and road reserve management of rural and urban road networks for Tanzania’s socioeconomic development.
The TARURA Manyara Regional Manager Office, on behalf of the Chief Executive, seeks to hire self-motivated, qualified, and competent Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions on a one-year temporary contract.
The Educational/Professional Qualifications:
- A Holder of Form IV National Certificate.
- Class ‘C1’ or ‘E’ Driving License and has attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or any other recognized institution.
- Fluent in both Kiswahili and English.
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen.
The Work Experience:
- The candidate must have at least one year of driving experience without having an accident.
- The age limit is 45 years.
Remuneration/ Salary:
- According to the Tarura scale.
The duties and responsibilities:
- To operate motor vehicles in conformity with traffic laws and regulations.
- Inspect the motor vehicle before and after each travel to detect any necessary repair or rehabilitation.
- Ensure that a vehicle and its equipment (jack, spanner, spare tire, etc.) are readily available and in good condition.
- Carry out minor/routine maintenance of cars.
- Ensure that the vehicle’s doors and windows are always securely locked and safe.
- To maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
- Record and keep records about any journey in the logbook.
- To help collect and deliver mail.
- Any accidents should be reported immediately to the supervisor and the traffic police.
- To complete any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
