THE ROLE SUMMARY:
The Education Specialist reports directly to the Country Director. He or she is responsible for giving technical assistance and direction on the formulation and implementation of education programs in accordance with the Country Strategic Plan and Right To Play’s global theory of change. The incumbent works to incorporate Right To Play approaches within the educational curriculum. This involves creating materials and resources that are aligned with literacy development for primary school pupils in partnership with the Global Education Specialist and the Program Quality and Impact team, if appropriate.
The incumbent provides technical assistance to the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist in the development of educational performance measurement frameworks, baseline assessments, and evaluations. He/she leads policy engagement with external stakeholders. The Education Specialist is also in charge of studying education-related outcomes from Right To Play’s activities and applying novel knowledge to organizational tactics.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master’s degree in education or a comparable mix of educational background and experience in education.
- Five (5) years of documented expertise executing and giving technical guidance for basic education initiatives, as well as engaging with government officials.
- A proven expertise in project planning, report writing, networking, partnership development, and working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
- The significant expertise creating and delivering training, as well as developing educational materials and tools.
THE KNOWLEDGE:
- The understanding of active learning methodologies, namely play-based learning.
- The knowledge and understanding of best practices in basic education programs, as well as technical expertise in teacher training, resource and curriculum creation.
- The understanding the community development processes.
- Understanding and expertise with programming methods to life skills or social emotional learning.
- The knowledge and experience in education research, including quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
LANGUAGE(S):
- Excellent/ fluent in spoken and written English, as well as Swahili.
