Job Title: Finance and Administration Manager
Job location: Head Office, Dar es Salaam
LESA SACCOS LTD
The primary goal of LESA SACCOS LTD, a recognized deposits and Credit Cooperative Society, is to mobilize member deposits in exchange for lending facilities. Located in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, it is an employee-based SACCOS that was founded in February 2011 in compliance with the Co-operative Societies Act No. 6 of 2013’s regulations.
As stated below, LESA SACCOS plans to hire a full-time Finance and Administration Manager.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Effective and efficient financial and administrative services are the responsibility of the Finance and Administration Manager, who answers to the Board. There is a six-month probationary term for this post.
In order to support the departments of finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, information technology, and quality customer service, the chosen applicant will oversee, build, and lead an internal team.
As a member of the LESA SACCOS Board of Directors, the Finance and Administration Manager is essential to the organization’s operations and strategic decision-making.
A financial and operations leader has a fantastic opportunity to enhance and expand the internal capabilities of a reputable, high-impact LESA SACCOS.
THE KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
An Accounting.
- Create, preserve, and balance the general ledger.
- Create bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Get checks ready to pay accounts that are due.
- Ascertain that all transactions and other data are accurately documented and input into the manual books, Excel, and computerized accounting system.
- Organize and preserve financial documents.
- Take receipt of and check invoices.
- Keep the asset register up to date.
- TRA tax return completion.
- Making required contribution and deduction payments and sending them to the appropriate authorities.
- Finish the year-end cutoff processes.
THE ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Financial Management.
- Oversee all financial, LESA SACCOS accounting; accurately and promptly analyze and present financial reports; and effectively convey monthly and annual financial statements.
- Oversee and oversee the yearly audit process, communicate with outside auditors and the board of directors’ committees, and determine whether any adjustments are required.
- In collaboration with the Board and LESA SACCOS Members, oversee and direct the yearly planning and budgeting process; oversee and evaluate all financial plans and budgets; keep the Board and SACCOS members informed about the organization’s financial situation and available investment opportunities.
- Control forecasting and financial flow inside the organization.
- Look for new business and investment opportunities, and inform the LESA SACCOS Board appropriately on matters pertaining to the expansion and sustainability of SACCOS investments.
Administration, Technology, and Human Resources:
- Expand the administration and human resources of LESA SACCOS by improving hiring, training, performance evaluation, benefits, and remuneration, as well as professional development.
- Make sure the hiring procedures are uniform and efficient.
- Create and oversee an extensive training program to teach SACCOS members on rules and regulations.
- Collaborate closely and openly with all outside partners, including independent contractors and consultants.
- To guarantee that LESA SACCOS operates effectively and consistently, oversee both the administrative and physical aspects of the organization.
- To guarantee that all information systems are operating continuously and effectively, oversee IT functions. Work closely with IT consultants to put technology solutions into practice.
- Keep an eye on two loan officers.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business studies, accounting, finance, or a similar discipline. An MBA is preferred. CPA is necessary.
- A solid grasp of accounting concepts, such as accrual accounting, reconciliations, and general ledger journals, as well as the readiness to pick up more difficult concepts.
- An advanced degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- A minimum of three to five years’ worth of combined professional experience in operations and finance management.
- The ideal applicant has past experience overseeing a human resources department and has final responsibility for the accuracy and content of all financial data, reporting, and audit coordination for either a division or major program area.
- Capacity to communicate financial ideas to colleagues in programming and fundraising who may not have backgrounds in finance, and to work well in a team environment.
- To maintain accounts and member records by tracking information using SACCOS software.
- Tech-savvy with a track record of managing relationships with software providers, choosing and supervising software installations, and having knowledge of accounting and reporting tools.
- Dedication to training initiatives that optimize organizational and individual goals throughout the company, including industry best practices for HR-related tasks.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities that facilitate and support wise decision-making; a proven track record of success in determining priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the capacity to prioritize, bargain, collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and deliver first-rate customer service.
