About the Blue Alliance:

The Blue Alliance is a non-profit organization that works with governments to create and manage Marine Protected Areas. Our objective is to rehabilitate coral reef ecosystems while also promoting sustainable economic development in local communities. By closing the finance gap for marine conservation, we encourage innovative Blue Economy firms that help to protect reefs.

We collaborate with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar to ensure environmental conservation, regulatory compliance, and the promotion of a sustainable marine-based economy.

 

We are looking for a Finance & Administration Officer and a Senior Accountant to handle financial management, reporting, compliance, and administrative tasks. These responsibilities are critical for the organization’s financial stability and seamless office operations.

The key responsibilities:

Financial Management and Reporting.

  • Make purchase orders for organizational activities and all purchases.
  • To ensure that all payments are made following PO approvals.
  • Streamline the reconciliation of bank accounts and payable/receivable balances.
  • To assist with the monthly financial verification and closing procedures.

 

Compliance and Internal Controls.

  • Follow statutory financial requirements.
  • To file all statutory responsibilities (TRA, ZRA, and ZSSF).
  • Stay informed on tax laws, levies, and other regulatory requirements in Zanzibar.
  • To implement and monitor internal controls to protect assets and avoid fraud.
  • Document and clarify internal and external audit processes.

 

 

Administrative and office management.

  • To provide office support to teams.
  • To manage schedules, meetings, and correspondence.
  • Plan travel, transportation, and lodging for employees.
  • To support the management of office assets such as vehicle and motorbike logbooks, utilities, and the fixed asset registration.
  • To facilitate the organization of workplace events, workshops, and conferences.
  • To ensure that administrative policies are followed and report any noncompliance to management.
  • To make it easier to fill out forms both online and offline.

 

Procurement Coordination.

  • Facilitate the development of purchase orders and dispatch.
  • To facilitate procurement processes while adhering to organizational regulations and providing proper paperwork.
  • For acquisitions and contracts, fill out the required documents and follow the procurement processes.

 

 

The Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s or diploma-level degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a similar discipline.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in accounting, finance, or auditing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and correctness.
  • A proficiency with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • An excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • The knowledge with Zanzibar tax laws and regulations is an added benefit.
