Since 1962, CRS has helped poor, vulnerable families improve their lives in Tanzania through programs for orphans and vulnerable children, agriculture, health, microfinance, and WASH.

 

 

Summary of a Job:

Job Summary:

You will assist in the coordination and implementation of the Country Program’s (CP) accounting systems, policies, and procedures in accordance with CRS’ established accounting standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IPSAS, donor rules and regulations, and legal requirements to support high-quality programs serving the poor and vulnerable. You will efficiently provide accounting services by documenting financial transactions, assembling, evaluating, and verifying account information, preparing account entries, and providing financial reporting and payment services.

 

 

The Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Before processing financial transactions, review and validate supporting documentation to ensure that all relevant documents are accurate and complete, and that proper authorizations are in place.
  • The Financial transactions should be recorded after receiving the appropriate authorization. Examine and evaluate numerous accounts to identify abnormalities. Advise on corrective actions and prepare corrected entries and modifications as needed.
  • To monitor disbursement/receipt schedules, notify relevant personnel of due payments/liquidations, and maintain appropriate communication and follow-up to ensure timely financial resource management and compliance with deadlines.
  • Create quarterly and ad hoc financial reports and do variance analysis to help project staff make decisions.
  • To provide staff with information about financial accounting regulations, procedural compliance challenges, and capacity building efforts.
  • To carry out specified treasury project activities (cash payment/receipt, cash forecast, etc.).
  • To work closely with the supply chain to process purchase orders and payments.
  • To perform any other tasks specified by the Supervisor.

 

 

The Basic Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration with a focus on accounting or another related discipline.
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACCA, or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of experience in a position with similar duties, preferably with an international or local non-governmental organization, accounting company, or financial/banking institution.
  • The experience with Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio) and information management systems. Proficient in Word and Web Conferencing applications.
  • Understanding knowledge of local taxation laws and reporting procedures.
  • Understanding knowledge of a financial accounting package or comparable financial reporting software is preferred.

  • English and Swahili.
