Job Summary:
Based in the Tanzania country office, the Finance Associate is a member of a vibrant Alliance team. The job works in close contact with Operations, HR and PLANS teams contributing to the effective functioning of ABC office in Tanzania. The duty of ensuring prompt and accurate transaction registration and analysis, as well as reliable treasury operations in accordance with internal controls and legal requirements, falls under the purview of the Coordinator II report. In close collaboration with the hosted entity leadership, project leaders, and country representative, the incumbent will oversee one analyst while serving as a member of the country management team.
Conditions/ requirements:
- Ensure that all bank and cash accounts are properly reconciled and that balances are maintained for seamless office requirements by supervising the efficient operation of banking activities.
- Ascertain that payments and liquidated expenses are appropriately recorded, posted, and kept in compliance with GAAP and institutional financial policies.
- Collaborate closely with Tanzanian administrative, HR, and PLANS teams to guarantee that payroll, statutory returns, and payments are processed on time and in compliance with ABC policies and procedures.
- As the national point of contact for institutional and project audits, you will be in charge of making sure that audit requirements are followed, timely information is submitted, and audit recommendations are put into action.
- Maintain efficient cash flow management by collaborating closely with various business divisions to guarantee sufficient cash resources for the smooth execution of alliance operations throughout the nation.
- Make sure that the yearly capital, personnel, and operating budgets are prepared accurately and quickly, and that all pertinent parties have provided input.
- Make sure that TB accounts—including alliance inter-company accounts—are continuously analyzed so that the regional office can get accurate and timely monthly and quarterly report submissions.
- Oversee the accurate and timely examination of Travel cost Claims (TECs) and Accountabilities, ensuring that all receipts are present and that the appropriate AECs, exchange rates, and cost reporting are followed.
- In compliance with alliance and donor regulations, oversee an effective archiving system that makes sure accounting records are filed correctly for quick access during audit and project review activities.
- Ensure that Alliance merchants’ account payables are settled on time.
- Assure tight adherence to deadlines and high-quality outputs by supervising the efficient execution of Service Level Agreements that have been agreed with hosted organizations.
Advantages:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a similar discipline.
- A benefit is having a professional accounting certification, such as CPA, ACCA, or CIMA.
- Strong written and spoken English language proficiency.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of verified financial work experience in an international organization, covering project financial management, accounting standards, and budgeting.
- Solid understanding of the procedures and practices related to accounting and budgeting for not-for-profit organizations.
- Outstanding interpersonal abilities, especially the capacity to collaborate well with people from different backgrounds and countries.

- High standards of transparency and ethics.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, adeptness with intricate financial and budgetary systems, and superior familiarity with Excel and ERP systems.
