Centre for Counseling Nutrition and Health Care (COUNSENUTH) is a leading Indigenous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Tanzania that was registered under Certificate of Ordinance No.9495 in 1998. Its mission is to achieve optimal nutrition and quality of life for children, women, and other vulnerable groups. COUNSENUTH strives to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people by implementing cost-effective, innovative evidence-based nutrition initiatives, advocating for greater governance and accountability, and actively engaging citizens in health and nutrition.
The overview of the position:
A Finance Intern will assist with the implementation of financial management rules and practices, such as payroll, budget control, and accounting. Working under a Senior Finance and Administration Officer would provide him/her with hands-on experience, allowing him/her to realistically apply his/her knowledge of financial laws and government regulations in his/her day-to-day work at COUNSENUTH.
The Intern will report to the Senior Financial and Administrative Officer.
The Roles and Responsibilities Include:
- To enter information into the financial accounting system and make sure it is properly documented.
- To assist with budgeting.
- To reconcile daily, monthly, and annual transactions.
- Assisted in the creation of financial statements.
- To support the preparation and filing of receipts, invoices, and other financial documentation.
- To provide client service.
- Collect data for audits and donor reports.
- To support the creation of payment vouchers and guarantee that payments are processed on schedule.
- Being the primary point of contact for other departments about financial and accounting issues.
- To contribute to the organization’s overall goals by completing additional duties as allocated.
The Skills and Specifications:
- A proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Interns must understand the fundamentals of accounting and financial analysis.
- Should be able to prepare files and keep records and documents.
- Should be able to communicate effectively in both writing and speaking.
- The strong ethics and the capacity to manage confidential info.
- Knowledge of accounting software (such as QuickBooks and Sage) is advantageous.
The Qualifications & Experience:
- Must be a graduate with a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, finance and accounts, commerce, or another comparable discipline.
- Having a CPA (T) will be advantageous.
