The position summary:

Tembo Nickel is seeking a Finance Lead to join the Kabanga Nickel Project Team. The chosen candidate will be in charge of managing the project’s finances, including budgeting, cost allocation, reporting, and governance. The successful individual will report to the CFO.

 

The primary priority areas include:

  • Corporate financial reporting involves the preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Day-to-day responsibility for accounting functions, including month-end close.
  • Cost and management reporting to the site and the London-based Group.
  • Internal controls and SOX compliance management.
  • Management of local and group audit timelines.

 

 

The Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and other financial reports for local companies, as well as reporting to the Group.
  • To ensure that financial governance, internal controls, and SOX compliance with Group requirements are consistently maintained.
  • Always meet all internal and external reporting deadlines.
  • Be responsible for timely monthly cost centre management accounts and qualitative analysis on the authorized budget.
  • To assist the CFO in producing budgets, forecasts, and presentations for local and group management.
  • Make sure that all day-to-day and month-end financial accounting duties are completed on schedule (such as reconciliations, legal filings, and applicable documentation).
  • To assist the CFO in standardizing processes throughout the Group and project sites.
  • Accounting difficulties are identified and reported, and help is provided for the establishment of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance with group standards.
  • To facilitate coordination of the CFO and integrated planning meetings with department heads.
  • Examine operating capital expenditures and forecasts to ensure alignment with business strategy and maximize return on investment.
  • To assist the CFO in initiating, creating, implementing, simplifying, and managing the company’s financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure successful financial management.
  • To ensure compliance with legislation and corporate governance standards.
  • To communicate audit results, best practices, and improvement recommendations to upper management.
  • To lead, mentor, and manage the financial team using hands-on management and industry best practices.

 

The Qualifications and competencies:

The interested applicants should have:

  • Degree in Accounting and Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized higher education institution.
  • A professional accounting qualifications, preferably CPA and ACCA.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience with a worldwide audit company.
  • He/She worked for a listed company
  • The SOX experience is preferred.
  • Expertise in audit procedures, financial reporting, and IFRS reporting requirements.
  • The strong Excel abilities and experience with financial applications.
  • The experience in the mining business.
