Job Title: Finance Manager

The FINCA is seeking a Finance Manager to join our finance and administration team. This senior position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for account reconciliation and treasury responsibilities.

 

The Job Summary:
The Finance Manager is an important member of the finance and administration team, overseeing account reconciliation and treasury responsibilities and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

 

The role includes:

  • Creating long-term goals, such as producing investment/risk analysis recommendations to help the business grow.
  • To implement financial strategies developed by management.
  • To reduce the risks associated with policy and process noncompliance, ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and operational risk standards.

 

The Essential Duties:

  • To oversee the accounting, reconciliation, and treasury functions.
  • To supervise postings to the main and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Ensure that accountants provide timely reports.
  • To train new hires on departmental systems and processes.
  • Train employees from different departments on accounting and tax difficulties.
  • To review all cash and temporary account reconciliations.
  • Make sure that bank reconciliations are completed on schedule and with correctness.
  • To maintain the accounting module processes.
  • Close sessions on a daily basis, monitor them, and fix any system-related issues that arise.
  • Keep a log of all system-related issues and processes.
  • To ensure that all reports are correct and timely, including ALCO reports, income statements, balance sheets, unapplied funds, overpayments, and cash flow statements.
  • To manage payroll and payroll-related operations and transactions.
  • To coordinate the bank’s budget and projection process.
  • To monitor and control the budget as it is implemented/executed.
  • Monitor the bank’s strategic implementation status.
  • Participate in the development of the bank’s long-term strategic plan.
  • To provide a variance analysis for budget against actual reporting.
  • The annually, policies governing accounting and treasury functions are reviewed to ensure that operational methods are in accordance with them.
  • Conduct internal and external audits in accordance with FINCA Impact Finance, Central Bank, and other government reporting obligations (e.g. tax).

 

The Education & Experience:

  • The Chartered Accountancy Equivalent is necessary.
  • An MBA degree is an extra benefit.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in management, financial, and regulatory reporting, including two years directing accounting functions in financial institutions.
  • Strong accounting and financial management skills.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and applicable legislation obligations.
  • Experience with at least one accounting software system.
  • Sound understanding of microfinance principles and banking processes.
