Job Title: Financial Control Officer

The Job Purpose:
The Financial Control Officer’s major responsibility is to provide extensive financial analysis on important business sectors in order to present all stakeholders with trends and highlights. The officer will be responsible in developing the bank’s financial performance to meet numerous regulatory standards, including the Cost to Income Ratio (CIR). The position also ensures that the bank’s procurement process always follows existing policy, reviews key operational areas to reduce costs and improve financial performance, and assists the Chief Accountant in organizing and coordinating the tendering and budgetary processes.
The Duties and responsibilities:
- Reporting: Monthly and quarterly reports are prepared on time, including Branch Performance, Departmental, OPEX, Industrial Analysis, Shareholder, and NPL reports. The officer will also assist with the creation of detailed Board slides and presentations for quarterly Board meetings, including in-depth data analysis.
- Cost and income Management: Conduct frequent evaluations of operational expenses and income, ensuring that all operational costs are in line with the budget. This includes analyzing operating cost patterns and discovering revenue leaks from fees and commissions.
- Procurement: Actively participate in the bank’s procurement process, ensuring compliance with internal policies and tendering procedures. This includes managing and organizing tender openings, preparing and coordinating the tender review committee, and pre-approving suppliers.
- Budgeting: Oversee the bank’s annual budget process, combining departmental budgets into a master budget file and sending drafts to the Chief Accountant for evaluation. The function ensures that all contributions from various departments are gathered and organized into budget templates.
- Collaboration: On a monthly basis, work with the Risk and Compliance department to review the IFRS 9 ECL Model Impairment sheet before including it into the monthly Management Accounts. The officer will also work with other departments to ensure that budgets are followed in an effective manner, advising budget holders as needed.
- Expenditure Review: Prior to sending for management approval, review all expenditure requests from the administrative department to confirm the budget line and the necessity of the expense.
- Teamwork: developing and maintaining excellent connections with department coworkers while displaying appropriate respect.
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Having or seeking a CPA/ACCA is considered an advantage.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a relevant discipline.
- The advanced understanding of Excel or analytical skills in Excel and PowerPoint are advantageous.
