The following are the duties that will be performed by the Financial Controller at the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel, for which we are currently hiring eligible candidates: –
Purpose of a Job:
The Financial Controller is in charge of the hotel’s financial management and reporting to ensure its financial health, record accuracy, and compliance with applicable legislation.
The key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of the unit’s long-term financial strategy, in accordance with the broader business strategy.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders and department heads to give financial insights to support strategic efforts.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue growth, and profitability improvement across all departments and the unit.
- Maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Prepare and monitor the hotel’s financial statements.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights into the hotel’s performance and trends, allowing management to make informed decisions.
- Accurate production of the unit’s accounts and reports.
- Monitoring compliance with rules, procedures, and controls.
- Implement best practices for financial management and reporting throughout the organization.
- Lead the unit’s annual budgeting process, working with department leaders to set realistic budgetary targets and objectives.
- Ensure that expenditure remains within budgeted limits that are proportionate to levels of activity.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without sacrificing quality.
- Implement strong internal controls to protect the group’s assets and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee internal and external audits, collaborating with auditors to produce required paperwork and resolve findings.
- Lead and mentor the financial team to ensure their professional advancement and development.
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment in the finance department.
The Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- A professional accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA) is required, as well as membership in Tanzania’s National Board of Accountants and Auditors.
- An undergraduate degree in a comparable discipline would be advantageous.
- Proven expertise in financial management for at least 8 years, ideally in the hospitality or hotel industries.
