The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), which was established in 1956, is a humanitarian non-governmental non-profit organization that offers direct help to populations impacted by violence in more than 40 countries worldwide, including refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and host communities. Since the beginning of the Burundi refugee crisis in 2015, DRC has been carrying out emergency response initiatives in Tanzania in three camps for refugees in the Kigoma Region near the Burundian border. Sectors include Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), Protection (CBP, PSN, GBV, CP, and Legal), Shelter and Infrastructure, and Economic Recovery are included in DRC’s integrated projects for refugees, asylum seekers, and host communities.

 

Overarching goal of the position:

  • Develop timely, high-quality reports for funders as well as other communication materials at the national and headquarters levels in collaboration with program and MEAL staff.
  • Assist the Grants Management Manager in developing proposals and designing programs as part of the efforts to increase the portfolios.
  • Assist the Grants Management Manager in the establishment of relationships.

The Main Responsibilities:

Grants:

  • Ensure that all donor reporting requirements are completed and that the DRC is strategically positioned to demonstrate its leadership in programming within the country context. Coordinate and assist the production and finalization of high-quality, timely reports on program progress for donors, partners, and the government.
  • Assist the Grants Management Manager in responding to internal and external information requests in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Assist the Grants Management Manager with managing the processes involved in developing proposals, including creating excellent concept notes and proposals and liaising with all departments of the company.
  • Assist the Head of Programs and the Grants Management Manager in developing program strategies, writing position papers, and other relevant tasks using program evidence.
  • Assist the Grants Management Manager in making sure that the national portfolio is managed effectively throughout the project cycle.
  • Provide strategic direction on the positioning and messaging of all reporting and communications materials, as well as draft original content. Act as the primary gatekeeper of high-quality reporting and communication initiatives for all portfolios.
  • Encourage the gathering of data for the needs assessment process.
  • Act as the primary gatekeeper for donor compliance across all portfolios, offering program teams operational direction in accordance with donors’ policies and guidelines.
  • Use DRC Dynamics features appropriately in the relevant domain.
  • Preserve and upgrade the national archives of Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Collaborations (Partnership):

  • Assist the partners with the project lifecycle and vetting process as needed.
  • Encourage the creation of partner mapping and strategic alliances.
  • Assist partners in creating bids for DRC programming initiatives and associated projects.
  • Suggests methods to enhance the administration of long-term partnerships.

makes certain that the capacity building strategy is implemented in compliance with the established schedule.
Make ensuring that the contracting, support, and screening phases of the relationship are completed in compliance with donor and DRC regulations.
Make sure that the DRC and partners fulfill their obligations under the terms of the agreed contracts at all times (e.g., requests for funding, justification of expenditures, production and distribution of reports, etc.).

Communications:

  • Compose, edit, and create communication materials that highlight DRC Tanzania’s efforts.
  • Make field trips to generate innovative and captivating communication materials to increase awareness of the DRC’s humanitarian response initiatives and the plight of the refugees in Tanzania.
  • Updating and maintaining fact sheets, presentations, and nation profile publications for DRC Tanzania is important for external audiences.
  • Make sure that media content is promptly published and distributed on the DRC Tanzania national webpage, the DRC Twitter account, and the HQ/RO controlled accounts.
  • Make that all communications obligations and DRC and donor visibility standards are fulfilled.

Cutting across:

  • Fulfill any additional responsibilities as directed by the Line Manager (Grants Management Manager).
  • To guarantee best practices in program activity monitoring and reporting, collaborate closely with the MEAL personnel.

 

Technical proficiency and expertise: (including years of experience)

  • A minimum of three years’ work experience in a humanitarian or international development capacity.
  • Knowledge of contributors from the US, EU, and UN, paying particular attention to reporting requirements.
  • The capacity to speak on behalf of the DRC to foreign funders, public servants, local organizations, and citizens.

Learning (Education):

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, international relations, or a related field.

Languages Spoken:

  • It is imperative to speak and write in perfect English.
  • It would be beneficial to speak French or the local language.
