The Job Purpose:
We are looking for a Grower Business Systems Manager to implement and manage agriculture business systems for effective data analysis, with a focus on Planning, Forecasting, and Reporting Systems, as well as ensuring accurate business metrics through a Geographic Information Systems database.
The Specific duties and responsibilities:
- To coordinate the installation of business systems and components as needed, including effective system integration (for example, CanePro with other estate information management systems), in order to report on long-term and seasonal trends, crush and production plans, meteorological, manpower, and other statistics and reports.
- To implement and operate a GIS system focused on grower registration and mapping, land use plans, assets under management, and land encroachment.
- Create standardized, reliable reports within specified timeframes (for example, Resource Planners, Scenarios, and “Op Charts” in CanePro).
- Create on-site capabilities for the use of reports, such as training, streamlining agriculture business systems to promote a single point of entry, automation, and so on.
- Encourage the usage and maintenance of local platforms (such as Kilombero ‘Yetu and Asikhulume).
- To implement and monitor continuous improvement by focusing on labor procedures and approaches that produce high-quality, valuable agricultural information.
- To promote and follow Illovo’s procedures, policies, and guidelines, especially those related to SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
The minimum requirements:
- A bachelor of Science or Social Science with a focus on Geographical, Environmental, and GIS disciplines.
- Five (5) years of experience managing or developing agricultural business systems.
- Good business acumen and agricultural expertise, with the capacity to predict, interpret, and respond to changes affecting the functional area.
- Formal business/commercial qualifications would be advantageous.
- Excellent agricultural data analysis skills.
The Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be offered a permanent pensionable contract.
