Wasoko intends to meet all of a retailer’s needs without the need for wholesalers or banks. Thousands of shops across East and West Africa utilize Wasoko’s mobile ordering and delivery platform to get the things they need as quickly and cheaply as possible, while also gaining access to expansion capital for the first time. The Job Summary:

The Head of Procurement will be instrumental in developing and executing Wasoko’s commercial strategy. This leadership role demands a seasoned professional with a strong commercial and business development background, preferably in the logistics and technology industries. The successful applicant will increase revenue, maintain important client relationships, and identify new business prospects.

 

The key responsibilities:

The Procurement plan (strategy) and Planning:

  • Create and implement a procurement plan that aligns with overall corporate objectives.
  • To identify growth prospects by analyzing market trends, competitive activity, and client wants.
  • To collaborate with cross-functional teams to match commercial strategies to operational capabilities.

 

 

Business Development:

  • Manage the identification, appraisal, and pursuit of new business possibilities.
  • Form strategic alliances with key customers, suppliers, and industry players.
  • To drive the creation and implementation of creative solutions that suit client demands.

 

Revenue Generation:

  • Create and implement pricing strategies to maximize revenue and profit.
  • To monitor and analyze sales performance to discover opportunities for improvement and expansion.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to meet revenue targets and create a high-performance culture.

 

Contract Negotiation and Management:

  • To lead commercial discussions to ensure that the organization receives advantageous terms.
  • Work with legal teams to examine, draft, and execute contracts and agreements.
  • Develop and maintain strong contractual connections with clients and partners.

 

 

Team Leadership:

  • Establish and lead a high-performing procurement team, offering coaching and advice.
  • Encourage a collaborative and results-driven culture in the procurement department.
  • Ensure good communication and collaboration with other departments in order to meet overall business objectives.

 

 

The Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, logistics, or a related discipline; an MBA is preferred.
  • Te experience in E-commerce B2C or Traditional Trade (FMCG/Telecom, etc.) is preferred.
  • The startup experience is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • The excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • The applicants must be Tanzanian citizens.
  • A strategic attitude with the ability to get achievements in a fast-paced workplace.
