The role is required to reflect the Barrick DNA and promote transformation within the team and the company. On a practical level, it will guarantee that HR department activities are efficiently planned and carried out in a safe and cost-effective manner to meet targets in compliance with the Company Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

The Responsibilities:

  • To ensure safe work practices, such as attending mandatory safety training and meetings, wearing needed PPE, reporting incidents/accidents, and strictly adhering to all Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Policies, as well as any applicable policies, procedures, and standards.
  • To coordinate the GM’s quarterly meeting with the employees.
  • The communication to the workforce (including Q&A) about all new policies/developments inside a company.
  • To conduct HR departmental meetings.
  • To provide a weekly report on CMA and labour court updates.
  • To manage the company’s industrial relations.
  • To maintain and update the Expatriate Work Permit Database.
  • Weekly updates are provided to HoDs, along with a recruitment tracker.
  • To monitor the company’s structure, position, and salary alignment
  • To implement of Barrick succession planning tools.
  • To provide weekly and monthly reports that are regularly updated and disseminated.
  • To conduct safety interactions and hazards, with submissions loaded weekly to the sharing folder.
  • Implement quality payroll processes on a monthly basis, reduce payroll queries from employees and the payroll office, and monitor overtime/above roster/advances/acting allowances and bank adjustments.
  • Overseeing the implementation of the Element system.
  • To manage the training part and submit a monthly report.
  • To manage staff time and attendance.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly compliance reports for non-citizen employment.
  • To coordinate contractor compliance with labor laws and non-citizen employment.

 

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, or equivalent. A master’s degree in human resource management would be advantageous.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in the mining/extraction, processing, manufacturing, or building and construction industries.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory/leadership experience.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • The ability to lead a team.
  • A strong understanding of risk management and problem-solving strategies.
  • The knowledge of working with culturally different people, as well as the ability to communicate successfully using suitable channels.
  • The knowledge of mentoring employees from various backgrounds.
  • A computer competent in Microsoft Package Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • The good communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Shows a strong concern for health, safety, and the environment.
