Summary of Position:
Ifakara Health Institute is looking for a skilled and experienced Human Resource Officer Intern. The Human Resource Officer Intern will provide HR support/services to employees, which may include but are not limited to recruitment processes, leave and timesheet administration, health insurance, etc.
The Duties and responsibilities.
Maintaining the staff database:
- Ensure that the temporary, collaborator, intern, and volunteer databases are regularly updated.
- Custodian of staff personnel files ensures that the necessary documents are filed in the appropriate files.
HR Support:
- Consult with unit leaders and the grants office before issuing temporary, collaborator, intern, and volunteer contracts.
- Prepare staff contracts and verify that they are signed on time and filled out/uploaded into the employees’ files/system.
- Organize and prepare for personnel recruiting, advertisement, shortlisting, placement, and new employee orientation.
- Prepare and submit a new personnel list to the Higher Education Students Loan Board on a monthly basis.
- Assist the unit by responding to staff requests about HR policies, employee benefits, and other HR-related issues.
- Review timesheet records and follow-up with employees.
Responsible for the staff’s welfare:
- Ensure that new employees have medical insurance cards.
- Process the Maafa fund for staff in the event of death, and ensure that future employees are aware of the Maafa fund.
- Perform any additional job-related duties as given by the supervisor.
The Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a comparable discipline.
The Skills and competencies:
- Excellent administrative and organizing abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to keep confidential and handle sensitive information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Able to work both individually and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced setting.
