Job Title: Human Resources Officer

The Project Zawadi’s purpose is to ensuring that Tanzanian children and youth have access to a quality education. Project Zawadi (PZ) is a modest non-profit organization that offers assistance through three programs: student support, school support (Model Schools), and professional teacher training (Tenda Teachers).
The Job Purpose:
The Human Resources Officer of Project Zawadi (PZ) is responsible for managing and overseeing all HR operations, as well as ensuring compliance with PZ’s rules and procedures. The role will focus on recruitment, onboarding, employee welfare, performance management, and organizational culture to support Project Zawadi’s purpose “To ensure Tanzanian children and youth have access to a quality education”
The key responsibilities:
Recruitment and staffing:
- Create and implement recruitment tactics to attract qualified applicants.
- To facilitate job ads, screen resumes, and hold interviews.
- To coordinate the onboarding and orientation of new workers.
- Keep job descriptions up to current and accurate.
Employee Relations & Welfare:
- To serve as the first point of contact for HR-related questions and concerns.
- Assist staff with HR rules, processes, and initiatives.
- To mediate disagreements and promote employee well-being programs.
- Create a positive workplace culture by organizing team-building and wellness activities.
Performance Management:
- To implement performance appraisal mechanisms and track staff performance.
- To provide supervisors with guidance on performance challenges and possibilities for advancement.
- To facilitate training and development initiatives to enhance staff abilities.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Manage payroll, leave, and benefit programs.
- Maintain correct records of employee benefits, contracts, and salary.
- Collaborate with finance to guarantee compliance with labor laws.
Compliance and Policy Management:
- To ensure that all HR practices comply with Tanzanian labor laws and Project Zawadi regulations.
- Keep personnel records to ensure confidentiality and data protection.
- Make update and oversee the application of HR policies and procedures.
Training and Development:
- To identify training needs and plan staff development programs.
- To provide assistance with career growth and succession planning.
- Make sure that skills and knowledge continue to increase in accordance with PZ goals.
Organizational Development:
- To assist in developing organizational growth strategies and increasing staff capabilities.
- Encourage the growth of leadership inside the organization.
- To promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
The Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a comparable subject.
- Three (3+) years of experience in human resources, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- A strong understanding of Tanzanian labor laws and employment practices.
- An excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- A proficient with HR systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capability to manage sensitive information with integrity and secrecy.
