Job Title: Insurance Manager

The Insurance Manager will be in charge of planning, managing, leading, and directing the insurance agency business across all of the bank’s touch points in order to meet business objectives.

 

THE PURPOSE OF ROLE:

  • Provide the primary link between the bank, insurance firms, and insurance agencies and their customers.
  • To market of all insurance products, including life and non-life, and ensuring that all claims are handled properly according to the agreed-upon TAT.
  • Develop and implement an overall business plan for all branches in accordance with the annual plans.
  • To organize activities to promote the bank’s insurance business in collaboration with other business units, while ensuring compliance with local insurance regulations.
  • To attend meetings, seminars, and programs to learn about and build new insurance business products.
  • To manage relationships with business partners and other stakeholders.
  • To guarantee that our retail portfolio has enough insurance protection based on the needs of the business and the bank.
  • To develop and regularly reviewing integrated management information systems to aid the bank in planning and controlling its insurance activities.
  • To ensure compliance with the Insurance Act’s regulations, policies, and procedures, as updated from time to time.
  • Liaise with marketing to ensure that the bank’s insurance agency business is aggressively pushed to recruit clients in accordance with annual plans.
  • Guarantee that the branch provides adequate insurance coverage for all clients’ mortgaged properties/collateral, including loans and overdrafts.
  • To develop and submit the Insurance Unit’s monthly performance report to management.
  • To oversee the work of every employee under the Insurance Unit’s authority and perform any additional tasks as delegated by superiors.

 

A CANDIDATE:

  • A degree from university with a focus on risk management and insurance.
  • Certificate in insurance/experience in sales and marketing of insurance products or its equivalent or actuarial studies.
  • At least five years of banking experience, with three of those years spent in a reputable insurance capacity.
  • A thorough understanding of Tanzanian insurance markets.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities for calculating targets, statistics, and figures.
  • Capacity to interact with employees at all levels, both internally and externally, in a professional, assured, and successful manner.
