Background of the Country:
In Tanzania, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) collaborates closely with local churches and secular partners to execute initiatives. Since 1962, CRS has worked in Tanzania to enhance the lives of impoverished and vulnerable families through programs related to WASH, agriculture, health, and microfinance, as well as orphans and vulnerable children.
Summary of Work:
He or she will assist, monitor, and report on project operations as an intern for the Youth and Agriculture Project (GHG) in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) mission providing assistance to the underprivileged and vulnerable. Your meticulous and customer-focused approach will guarantee that the project continuously employs best practices and strives to increase the impact of its advantages for the people it serves. He or she will oversee GHG’s technical operations in order to give efficient methods and plans for helping our opportunity youngsters.
Workplace Duties:
In cooperation with the team dedicated to youth and agriculture:
- Enable the maize demonstration plot and the bean Quality Declared Seeds (QDS) farms to be monitored.
- Encourage farmers to receive post-harvest and harvest training, and make sure they follow the application of GAPs.
- Encourage farmers to have access to financing through share-out meetings, SILC, and links to FSP in order to guarantee that data is gathered for MIS system uploads.
- Assist in creating business plans and oversee the operations of youth groups, paying particular attention to record-keeping.
- Assist with the gathering and management of field data during regular monitoring, and carry out yearly evaluations to evaluate the advancement of improved productivity for maize and beans, adoption of new good agricultural practices (GAPs), reduction of post-harvest losses, and input accessibility.
- Recording of the field report, lessons discovered, and success stories.
Typical Qualifications, Experience, and Background:
- Preferred fields of study include agribusiness and agricultural economics.
- Graduates between 2022 and 2023 are expected.
- An added benefit is having financial literacy and entrepreneurial knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge of the tenets, regulations, and contemporary methods of agricultural development in Tanzania and around the world.
- Preferred is prior experience gathering pertinent data and overseeing projects.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Windows (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

60% of the trip is required to go to the field sites.
