Job Title: Intern – 3 Positions

Tetra Tech

Expressions of interest are being accepted for three (3) internship jobs in the Feed the Future Tanzania Imarisha Sekta Binafsi (Private Sector Strengthening) project in Tanzania, which is being carried out by Tetra Tech International Development with funding from USAID. The main offices in Dar es Salaam, Iringa, Morogoro, and Mbeya will house these posts.

Description of the Position:

The internship’s purpose is to support the project team in Morogoro and Zanzibar as they work with kids and grantees, by helping them with follow-ups, reports, and communications. In addition, the internship will give interns great opportunities to hone their professional skills and clarify their career aspirations.

The internship is designed as a four-stage educational journey. The first month of each internship rotation is covered in Phase I. In this stage, the intern will meet staff members, learn about the expectations of the program and its expected results, and receive an orientation to basic project management and youth work. Every attempt will be made to tailor internship possibilities to each intern’s unique set of interests, abilities, and skills. During Phase II, which is the second month of the internship, interns will evaluate the ongoing project activities, interact with grantees and youth more closely, and take full use of fieldwork possibilities. During the third month, Phase III, interns will carry out fieldwork, support grantees and youth, and write reports. Interns will have the chance to create unique projects and carry out research in areas of interest during Phase IV, which runs from months 4 to 6. Research and white papers on PSSP priorities and challenges, like gender equity, social inclusion, and climate change, are part of this.

Applications are open for a variety of internships, such as those in administration and finance, grants management, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, communication, and public and private sector advocacy, cooperation, and assistance.

The internship may involve the following kinds of activities:

Accountabilities:

  • Assist the MEL/CLA Specialist in validating and verifying the data that implementing partners have submitted.
  • Create or accept a plan for staff and partner support supervision in M&E connected to projects; schedule and carry out visits or meetings with M&E collaborating partners as needed; verify data quality with partners & staff.
  • In order to assess achievement against the performance indicators, assist implementing partners with data collection on a regular basis. The intern will then notify the MEL/CLA specialist about any outstanding or unsubmitted data and take appropriate action.
  • Contribute to the project’s yearly reports and support monthly, quarterly, and project end reporting for the project’s progress.
  • Assist the MEL/CLA Specialist in identifying lessons learned and creating case studies to document the project’s qualitative outputs; counsel the supervisor on enhancing project performance through the application of M&E findings for knowledge management; and examine project reports to ascertain best practices and lessons learned that are pertinent to our work.
  • Contribute to the creation of social media material for grantee and USAID accounts in order to raise awareness of the Institute and encourage knowledge sharing.
  • Help with the story compilation for the project’s newsletters, success stories, and videos; shoot impactful and newsworthy pictures at events and gatherings; help with press release writing and other related tasks for outside stakeholders.
  • Assist in organizing prestigious national and regional gatherings (forums, workshops, and meetings).
  • In order to strengthen these cross-cutting practice areas, undertake research on Tanzania’s best practices relating to gender, youth, and social inclusion as well as climate-smart methods. Connect these findings to PSSP initiatives by writing research reports and conducting desk research to complement fieldwork.
  • Assist the team in strengthening cross-learning and collaboration between grantees and youth by providing creative ideas that will help the young develop their potential.
