Job Title: Junior Social Worker

At the moment, CVM is carrying out initiatives in Bagamoyo, Chalinze, Morogoro Municipal, Dodoma Municipal, Iringa, Ruvuma, Tanga, Dar Es Salaam, Lindi, and Zanzibar to empower domestic workers, both local and migrant, as well as minors and young moms.
For this reason, we are looking for a young or junior employee to join the project team. The junior social worker will assist vulnerable young mothers, domestic workers, and minors in the Bagamoyo and Chalinze District Councils from their office in Bagamoyo.
2.1 The description of Job
The Junior Social Worker will be in charge of offering programmatic and technical support to facilitate young mothers’ access to occupational skill development opportunities, as well as to advance education and professional training for domestic workers and minors. Additionally, the Junior Social Worker will have broad responsibility for the planning, organizing, and carrying out of project activities.
2.2 The description of Job
- Finding, encouraging, and enlisting young moms to enhance their professional abilities in fish processing, horticulture, and seaweed.
- Plan and oversee educational programs for new mothers in the designated fields.
- Write reports and keep a regular eye on the project’s progress.
- Assist in developing a contractual agreement with site managers and identifying the field attachment for young moms who have graduated.
- Help the young moms create independent companies and connections to the markets for their goods.
- Find domestic workers and enlist them in the Association and its branches.
- Mentoring domestic helpers and advocating for minors in their care to return to school or enroll in vocational training programs.
- Putting on training sessions for stakeholders and domestic workers.
- Recruit and assist young domestic workers in attending elementary and secondary schools in accordance with the regulations.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead workshops and trainings to advance the rights of domestic workers.
- Discuss allowing domestic workers to evaluate schooling with employers.
- Monitor Domestic Workers in the school’s educational program and record the outcomes.
- Keeping an eye on the project’s effects and involving authorities and other stakeholders to resolve concerns related to domestic workers.
- Monitor project progress using the forms provided, and carry out target-reaching and monitoring tasks.
- Attends meetings with stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries.
- Encourage the hiring of new domestic workers, pay raises, and contracts for them according to the Association and Branch.
- Assembles evaluations and polls about the state of domestic workers in the nation.
- Support and guidance on matters impacting young female domestic workers to the CVM management.
- Advocacy and dissemination of the mandate and goals of CVM.
- Have regular discussions about the educational program with the beneficiaries and D/W.
- Effective contributions to communities of practice and knowledge networks by identifying best practices and lessons discovered.
- Supplying the Domestic Workers Association and its branches with backups and technical assistance.
3. Requirements for Qualification and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree OR a diploma in community development, social work, or a similar discipline.
- Two years at least of experience managing projects for NGOs or CSOs or working in social work.
- It will be advantageous to have prior experience dealing with young mothers or domestic workers.
- Shown ability to perform efficiently under time constraints.
- Proficiency in both Swahili and English is necessary.
- Strong aptitude for organization.
- Exemplifies integrity by upholding the moral principles and values of the CVM.
- Excellent listening skills and empathy.
- The capacity to collaborate sensitively and successfully across linguistic, cultural, and geographic divides.
- Strong background in knowledge management, advocacy, and project management.
- Proactive and imaginative in addressing issues, possessing robust facilitation and analytical proficiencies.
- Strong capacity for both solo and group work.
- Expertise in handling cases of abuse against women and children.
- In order to maintain the necessary high standards and lead and manage the sizable community of young moms or domestic workers, the candidate must be emotionally stable.
- Only citizens of Tanzania are eligible for this current position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and pivot tables is necessary.
- The capacity to use various digital programs and devices.
- Engage in any action that the CR and CVM Director may request or that is necessary to advance the organization’s goals, mission, and interests.
