The Job Overview:
The Tobacco Cooperative Joint Enterprises Limited (TCJE) was established as a Joint Enterprise under the Cooperative Societies Act No. 6 of 2013 to facilitate the operation of the tobacco industry and promote economic interests of members in areas such as tobacco marketing, agricultural supplies, and all matters related to tobacco development of affiliated Secondary Societies in accordance with Cooperative Principles and Practice.
In this regard, TCJE’s activities have specifically grown, and the firm currently invites applications from eligible, qualified, and talented personnel to fill the following open positions:
Job Title: Agricultural Extension Officer – (1 Post)
The Nature and scope:
The successful individual will report to the operations manager. He/she will be in charge of offering extension services to our client in order to get the best possible results in their agricultural production.
The Duties and responsibilities:
- To provide extension instruction and services to farmers on their farms in order to maximize production.
- Help farmers make smarter decisions to boost agricultural production.
- Give farmers advice on how to save money on agricultural equipment and practices.
- Help farmers meet agricultural output standards.
- To advise farmers on crop quality management.
- To advise farmers to follow proper agricultural farming practices.
- Perform/ carry out any other related duties that the supervisor may assign from time to time.
The Qualifications, knowledge, and experiences:
- A bachelor’s degree in agriculture or a similar field from a recognized university/institution.
- The high level (degree) of integrity.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in procurement and storekeeping.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- Can communicate in both English and Kiswahili.
- Must have computer abilities.
Job Title: Accountant – (1 Post)
The Nature and Scope:
The chosen individual will report to the Chief Accountant. He/she will be in charge of maintaining the books of accounts, financial reporting, and the normal processing of finance transactions. He/she will assist in the production of financial budgeting and reporting, supplier payments, and the development of controls to protect the enterprise’s financial resources.
The Duties and responsibilities:
- To prepare petty cash vouchers and arranges for withdrawals from the bank.
- To receive bank communication and processes cash and bank transactions on a daily basis.
- To maintain the fixed asset register and reconciles it monthly with the general ledger.
- Maintains all fixed asset-related records and papers in the books.
- To physically verifies assets to guarantee their existence on a regular basis, and conducts asset assessments as needed.
- Accounts payable and receivable are reconciled on a weekly basis, and inventory sub ledgers are maintained at the entity level.
- Accounting and bookkeeping activities include preparing management accounts, uploading payments, and ensuring proper documentation.
- To prepare weekly, monthly, bi-annual, and annual cash flows.
- To prepare month-end reconciliation.
- To takes responsibility for monthly payroll reconciliations, as well as account control at the conclusion of each month.
- Assist the Chief Accountant in the compilation of final accounts.
- Be responsible for closing the books of accounts.
- Create/ prepare vouchers and accept checks and cash payments.
- To monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date for month-end close.
- To provide supporting documentation for audits.
- Follow up/ ensure on union payments and the balance of administration and input supply.
- To manage loan accounts for banks, including CRDB, NMB, Azania, and NBC.
- To check retirement and ensuring all supporting documents were correctly attached.
- To prepare quarterly reports.
- To prepare the BOD report.
The Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
- A bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a similar field.
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a respectable organization.
- A strong writing and oral communication abilities, including the ability to prepare documentation in a concise and focused manner.
- Excellently developed interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- He/ She must be a team player, very self-motivated, and capable of managing and prioritizing job loads with minimal supervision.
- He/ She should have computer abilities.
Job Title: Driver – (2 Posts)
The Nature and scope:
The successful individual will operate the Enterprise’s motor vehicle. He/she will be in charge of ensuring that the company’s motor vehicle is handled properly.
The Duties and responsibilities:
- To drive and maintain the Enterprise’s motor vehicle.
- Keep track of the service schedule to ensure that the vehicle assigned to him/her is properly maintained, serviced, and kept clean.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections, repair minor flaws, and promptly report any discovered fault or defect on the motor vehicle.
- To verify the vehicle’s repairs.
- Keep a car log book and record all movements correctly and quickly.
- Make sure the vehicle’s security at all times.
- Carry out/ perform any other duties relating to the position as given by the supervisor.
The Qualifications, knowledge and experiences:
- Requirements include a secondary education certificate and proficiency in
- English and Kiswahili language.
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least two years of relevant job experience at a reputed organization.
Job Title: Cashier – (1 Post)
The Nature and scope:
- To post financial transactions using the right computer software. Accepting and documenting vouchers, cash, and cheques. They support accounting departments with accounting and clerical tasks.
The duties and responsibilities:
Organize and process financial transactions:
- To prepare month-end reports.
- To maintain financial filing systems.
- To manage the accounts payable.
Prepare invoices for clients:
- To prepare bank deposits.
- To post financial transactions using the right computer software.
- Accepting and documenting vouchers, cash, and cheques.
- To check the veracity of reports, numbers, and posts.
- To reconcile and reporting any discrepancies discovered in the record.
- Help with tax payments and filing.
- Keeping/ maintaining a financial filing system.
- Keeps information secret, hence protecting the value of the organization.
The Qualifications, knowledge and experiences:
- An advanced diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a similar discipline from a reputable university or institution.
- The general accounting expertise.
- A proficient in data input.
- A computer literate.
- The ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing precision.
- A minimum of 6 months of work experience in a comparable field is preferred.
Job Title: Accounts Assistant – (1 Post)
The Nature and Scope:
The chosen individual will report to the Chief Accountant. He/she will be accountable to the Chief Accountant for carrying out the enterprise’s financial and accounting tasks.
The duties and responsibilities:
- The Pre-payment review (examination) of invoices, bills, and other claims.
- To receive and store all bills, invoices, and any pending payments.
- To assist the Chief Accountant with the compilation of final accounts.
- Be responsible for payroll preparation.
- Be responsible for the monthly reconciliation of statutory contributions.
- The periodic worker reconciliation promotes retirement.
- Keep track of your costs and file expense reports.
- To prepare vouchers and accept checks and cash payments.
- Keep a check payment register book.
- To prepare and process petty cash payment paperwork.
- To monitor accounts to ensure payments are current and assist with month-end closing.
- Prepare supporting documents for audits.
- Ensure the timely submission of statutory contributions and obligations.
- Make sure that the Fixed Assets Register is up to date and depreciated appropriately.
- Perform/ carry out any other related duties that the Supervisor may assign from time to time.
The Qualifications, knowledge and experiences:
- An Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a similar discipline from a reputable university/institution.
- The general accounting expertise.
- A proficient in data input.
- A computer literate.
- The ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing precision.
