Right To Play Tanzania
The Right To Play Tanzania is a global organisation that protects, educates, and enables children to overcome adversity through play. We helped 2.3 million children stay in school and out of labor last year by harnessing play, one of the most powerful and essential forces in a child’s life, as well as preventing life-threatening diseases like HIV and malaria and keeping them safe from exploitation and abuse. Right To Play began working in Tanzania in 2001 to address the issues confronting refugee populations. Since then, we have expanded our initiatives to help the government address challenges of inadequate educational quality, harmful traditional practices like female genital mutilation, and gender inequality that affect children and communities in Kigoma, Pwani, Mara, Morogoro, and Dar es Salaam.
We have a strong partnership approach and collaborate closely with major government agencies, local politicians, civil society organizations and networks, communities, teachers, parents, and children themselves. Between 2021 and 2025, our work in Tanzania will focus on two of Right To Play’s core outcomes: girls’ empowerment and quality education.
