Aga Khan Education Service (AKES)

 

 

The Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) in Tanzania is a private, non-profit service corporation registered under the Companies Act. It has two international curriculum schools in Dar es Salaam that offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (including the early years) and the Diploma Programme (DP); the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum; the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE); and the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for Forms 1-4.

The aim (vision) of AKES, Tanzania is to provide accessible, world-class education, which prepares students to become self-confident, open-minded, articulate, and ethical young people with academic qualifications that enable them to make constructive contributions to their own community and wider society. AKES, Tanzania is a member of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a consortium of private development organizations dedicated to improving living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and ethnicities in specific developing-world locations.

 

 

The Current Vacancies:

The AKES, Tanzania is now looking for competent, dynamic, open-minded, devoted, effective, and experienced applicants to fill the following unfilled posts at the Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School in Dar es Salaam (international division) for the new term beginning August 2025:

  • The Math and Science Subjects Teachers with experience teaching IGCSE and IB DP curricula.
  • The French teacher with experience teaching IGCSE and IB curricula.
  • The experienced computer science teachers with IGCSE/IB curriculum.
  • The English Language and Literature. Teachers and department heads with experience in the IGCSE and IB DP curricula.
  • A Nursery school teacher.

 

 

The Roles and responsibilities:

  • To provide a safe and interesting atmosphere for pupils to ensure that teaching and learning go smoothly.
  • To set the ultimate objectives that must be met, and push each and every student to help them grow while reaching their learning goals.
  • To ensure that students meet the objectives, produce exceptional achievements, and continue to grow.
  • Be mindful of the pupils’ talents and knowledge, and plan your teaching materials accordingly.
  • To demonstrate knowledge, comprehension, and the ability to use multiple effective teaching strategies.

 

 

 

The required qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education from a respected, approved university.
  • A minimum of three to four years of experience teaching a similar subject in an international school’s IGCSE and IB DP curricula.
  • A good understanding and experience with curriculum management design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • The understanding 21st-century educational methods, techniques for increasing student achievement, and effective frameworks for school improvement planning and self-evaluation.
