About the Position:
The two temporary drivers will work under the coordinator I’s direction to transport field personnel to the various CIAT research sites in Tanzania and to provide technical support for CIAT vehicles. The Driver will collaborate closely on a variety of initiatives with scientists and support personnel.
This job, which has its headquarters in Arusha, will need travel to other African cities as well as other locations inside the nation.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- As needed, assist in facilitating the delivery of packages, letters, and other pertinent items to different offices and businesses.
- Follow operating instructions for CIAT program vehicles to ensure the efficient and safe transportation of employees and guests.
- When necessary, travel lengthy distances with or without CIAT personnel, adhering to all traffic laws and CIAT policies.
- Always maintain the car’s cleanliness and condition, and make sure all required paperwork—like insurance and driver’s licenses—is current.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections on the car, such as checking the water level, tire pressure, brakes, lights, oil, fuel, and windshield wipers.
- To guarantee adherence to service schedules and to notify the supervisor and logistics team ahead of time when the vehicle requires maintenance, keep an extensive record of all vehicle maintenance.
- Create a monthly report on the movement of vehicles and keep an accurate logbook.
- Offer general support to tourists and CIAT employees.
- Help out in the field when needed by technicians.
- Keep track of all the work done, how much fuel you used, and fill out all the papers. It is imperative to promptly report any accidents, events, or strange occurrences.
- Complete any additional tasks assigned by the Operations and Administration Teams.
Requirements:
- Minimum of O-Level secondary education or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience, preferably in an international organization with regional exposure.
- Clean and valid Class C driving licenses and certificate of good conduct.
- Mechanical training or basic knowledge of automobiles and the ability to carry out minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Basic computer application.
Terms of employment:
With its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, this role is transient in nature. Subject to a one-month probationary period, the initial contract will be for six months.
