Job Purpose / Mission
To join our vibrant team, we are looking for a certified and experienced Global Labour Law Manager. In both proactive and reactive handling of ethics cases, separations, dismissals, fraud charges, and grievances, the appropriate applicant will be essential. This position will play a crucial part in maintaining the development of an ethical EEA culture. You will serve as our external legal firms’ main point of contact as the Global Labor Law Manager. The job will entail choosing a panel of law firms, for which a request for proposals (RFP) will be needed. Effective and efficient cost management for the external legal panel will be necessary for the function.
Key Responsibilities:
Labor Law Compliance and Employment Relations:
- Manage dismissals and mutually agreed-upon separations.
- Plan and oversee disciplinary actions resulting from incompetence, subpar work, or ethical transgressions in strict adherence to regional laws and, where necessary, in collaboration with outside legal counsel.
- Oversee and guarantee adherence to labor regulations throughout multiple nations in East, West, and South Africa.

Vendor Management:
- Serve as the primary liaison for external labor law panels.
- Handle all aspects of your connections with outside vendors, such as billing, contract renewals, agreements, and performance standards.
- Define service level agreements, keep an eye on them, and take appropriate action when necessary.
- Handle all invoices in accordance with the professional fees schedule that has been agreed upon.
Policy Alignment and Creation:
- Take part in examinations of local and international policy from the standpoint of labor law.
- Participate in the formulation of new regulations that comply with labor laws.
- Implement and disseminate all policies, including any updated ones.
- Create and carry out a program for employee relations training.
Training and Development:
- Provide labor training to line managers who oversee direct reporting as well as the HR team.
- Make sure that all updates and changes to labor laws in the EEA markets are regularly assessed and that the appropriate actions are taken.
Performance Management:
- Oversee reorganizations, strategies for performance enhancement, and any corresponding modifications to the terms and conditions of contracts.
Reporting and Governance:
- Keep track of and report on crucial concerns related to employment performance.
- To guarantee uniform treatment in compliance with established standards, maintain a record of all precedents and previous cases.
- Report on pertinent key performance indicators once a month.
Make that national and international disciplinary rules and procedures are in line with each other. - Assure complete adherence to the HR Audit checklist and the legal and ethical criteria.
- When necessary, work closely with the Ethics department.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Three to five years’ minimum post-qualification experience as a labor lawyer.
- A minimum of one year’s work experience in a multinational firm including multiple jurisdictions
- A legal bachelor’s degree is necessary.
- A diploma in conflict resolution and/or employee relations would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated skill in negotiations.
- Competent lawyer with a wealth of African labor legal experience.
- Legal Proficiency: strong familiarity with and expertise in labor law, especially in South, West, and East Africa.
- Strong “drafting” experience in law
