African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD)
A non-profit, non-religious, and non-political organization is the African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD). AIRD’s mission is to provide operational technical support, including but not limited to supply chain, logistics, and infrastructure, in conjunction with relief and development organizations that focus on disaster-affected, poverty-infested, and development-oriented areas. AIRD provides services for and through its partners, which include governments, international and national donor organizations, and UN agencies, among others. Any form of harassment, including sexual harassment, discrimination, and sexual exploitation and abuse are not acceptable at AIRD. As a result, background checks will be performed on chosen applicants.

The Job Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for securely transporting staff, stakeholders, and points of contact (POCs), complying to AIRD SOPs, Policies, and traffic regulations, and maintaining the allocated vehicles. S/he will do normal vehicle checks and recommend to the workshop for regular and scheduled maintenance.
The General Duties:
- All official travel should be done in a safe and responsible manner, utilizing official vehicles.
- Responsible for the vehicle he is assigned to drive.
- A Light Vehicle driver will obey all traffic and AIRD safety rules, as well as the transport parameters established by the AIRD fleet department.
- Maintain vehicle security (door locks, security locks, etc.). Monitor the security and use of project assets.
- Be responsible for the proper storage of all vehicle equipment, tools, first aid kits, and components.
- Ensure that all mission orders and waybills are signed by the offices receiving the goods/persons at the conclusion of each mission.
- Include all accessible information on road regulations and conditions, routes, and sites.
- To ensure that no illegal passengers or cargo board the vehicle.
- To complete the vehicle log book accurately and consistently in compliance with AIRD regulations.
- Carry out/ perform any additional assignments or duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Additional (Other) tasks:
- Clean the interior and exterior of the assigned vehicle(s) on a regular basis.
- To check the oil, water, brake fluid, tyre pressure, battery levels, and the overall car for headlamp and body dents.
- Is in charge of the project vehicle paperwork and their condition, maintaining the vehicle log, and recording monthly maintenance.
- To monitor fuel consumption on a daily basis and make arrangements to refuel soon.
- To report vehicle faults for service and make minor repairs.
- To report any accidents or occurrences, including minor accidents, damage, loss, or theft of car components.
The Minimum qualifications:
- A holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) [Form Four Certificate] or higher education.
- A driving course certificate from a recognized institution, such as VETA or NIT; Advanced Drivers.
- The certificate Grade Two (VIP Drivers Course) will be advantageous.
- Must have a genuine and valid driver’s license supported by Tanzanian-issued official documentation.
- The Police Force’s Traffic Division.
- A minimum of three years of work experience as a light vehicle driver in a related field for a respectable organization is required; working for a humanitarian organization would be ideal.
The additional requirements:
- Proficient in both written and spoken English, as well as Kiswahili.
- The ability to work with people from various backgrounds.
- A good driving skills, awareness of defensive driving practices, and a clean driving record.
- Understanding of traffic laws, workplace safety, health, and environmental restrictions.
